I'm not aware of any, and I think its shocking that our best option is a converted WR who used to get injured after every catch.

We should have better.

While I can't off the top of my head point to anyone else, it has happened plenty in the past. It's not as bad as you think or unheard of. There was also Ryan Tannehill who converted from WR to QB at A&M and was a first round pick.

While I think it's necessary to have more of a speed back as well to compliment Randall, he is not an issue.

If you watch the game the Troy game, you will understand why we have a converted WR at RB. Randall is a stud and if our O line can get better, you will see that. Football is won on the line of scrimmage.

Note top two RBs from FCS Nicholls State ran 5.3 yds per carry vs Troy State in Game 1 just a AR did in Game 2.

RB Hoffman had one carry for 31 yards then 8 more carries for 21 yards.

RB Brock Jr had one carry for 20 yards and then 6 more carries for 14 yards.

That’s what really happened.

Pretty sure they get their chances every practice. That is also where coaches will note how well players understand the playbook and blocking assignments. I just don’t believe that Dabo puts anyone out there that he doesn’t believe gives us the best chance to win. His reasons, his job.

I also believe that when the young studs are ready, Dabo won’t keep them off the field.

Randall isn’t playing just because he has seniority. Such a played out narrative, based solely on TL and DW having to beat out Bryant and Cole, which they did 4 or 5 games into their career

The idea that we play guys solely because they are older is an ignorant take.

SMU. Their running back was a wide receiver for Miami. SMU didn't have any room for him as a wide receiver so they converted him to a rb.

Infinitely better options would have been:

1. Recruit better.
2. Develop better.
3. Use the transfer portal.

For what we pay our coaches, they should have known for the last year plus who we would likely have on our team for 2025. If they did not see that we were likely to have a problem, that’s on them. If they did see a problem, and their solution was to do nothing like they did, that’s also on them.

Good thing your book means nothing.
Sure, it should have been obvious to everyone that between Jay Haynes, David Eziomume, and Keith Adams Jr, that none of them would be a viable starter. And no team that’s any good ever expects a freshman running back to contribute either, right? Sure.

I guess the assumption is that a former WR with little experience at RB isn't likely to be a good RB. While that in itself is not totally unreasonable, it doesn't necessarily follow either, and Randall may very well be an excellent RB. Having him as our #1 RB may be a good thing going forward.

Personally, I'm much more concerned with how Cade and out O-Line has played, and our offensive play-calling and gameplans. I think our RB talent is fine if we get the other stuff to an acceptable level.

He’s 235 lbs and was lost in the depth at WR. As an RB - he’s showing all the skills. Patience, vision, cuts, power to break tackles, and speed to break away. So who cares if he was a holder prior to RB? Did you see him running the ball on Saturday??

Man some of you dudes literally work hard to come up with complaints. We have a couple issues, but RB1 isn’t one of them.

Davidson will come on as the season progresses.

That and, some examples of transitioning from WR to RB, including some NFL players:

Cordelle (sp) Patterson, Ty Montgomery, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Adam Randall, Antonio Gibson, etc.

Yes, Jamal Haynes, the starting running back for Georgia Tech, transitioned from wide receiver to running back in 2023. He spent his first two seasons primarily as a wide receiver before moving to running back in 2023, becoming Georgia Tech's first 1,000-yard rusher in six years. So this is something to believe in and trust the process..
