the instant success of the softball program and the new lacrosse program! Both those coaches had to come in and start from scratch, and already have their teams performing at a higher level than Brownell has in 13 years!

2 of the last 3 basketball coaches took the team to 3 straight ncaas and 6 consecutive postseason tourneys. Brad isn’t in the same universe.

Clemson Doesn't care about mens basketball. The fact that Brad is still the coach. I won't change this narrative until they change theirs.

I agree with you. There is clearly no mandate from the administration to drive the program beyond where it is right now. As others have said, try and be as competitive as you can, graduate your players, stay out of trouble, and live within the resources we give you.
Until the vision changes, the results will remain the same or get worse. I know we blame Brad for a lot but the truth is he appears to be meeting the low expectations of the AD and BOT and I'm sure as far as he's concerned, that is all that matters.

To be fair, men’s basketball is not our worst program
Mar 22, 2023, 7:42 PM

There are a few doing worse. Such as volleyball and men’s tennis which have both been poor for many years now.
Women’s basketball maybe did better this year but they’ve had a long history of being bad recently.
And compared to historical standards baseball is in a worse state than men’s basketball.

Players Is exactly the same as recruiting basketball players. I’m sure Valerie and Millie are getting the same 800K NIL deals that Wong and Pack from da U are getting. Did you see how Mizuno funneled all of those players to OU and Easton to Bama; no because it doesn’t happen. Argue all day if you want that Brownell should be fired because of his record (though I wish we would finally stop because it’s getting pretty old) and you have legitimate arguments. Comparing two different sports together and trying to say what happens in one should have any bearing on the other is, like I said, stupid.

of different sports and what it takes to be successful, but its fair to point out that some can get it done and some cant. You have to measure the success against something.
You made this comment....Argue all day if you want that should be fired because of his record (though I wish we would finally stop because it’s getting pretty old)"...while his overall record has been fine when measured against our history, its the larger picture thats the issue.
Are you saying that Brownell shouldn't be criticized the way he is or just take another angle than attacking his overall record?
I try to look at it logically and can see both sides of the coin, but it just feels really stale at this point and time to give someone else a chance to run it. I'll also add, that I question if a change will really make a difference bc of the university/AD/fanbase commitment to basketball. No one wants it to be bad, obviously, but does anyone want it to be truly great? Bc you dont see that demanding passion reflected from anyone.

I'm not inclined to argue either side because I don't know. I hope and believe we could find someone who would be more successful than Brownell and I think he's had ample opportunity, but again I don't know who is available and would take the job and neither does anyone else outside of the athletic department. This isn't an invitation for discussion because like I said it's way past old for me. There has been nonstop beeching for weeks now on this site and nothing is gonna ever come of it; let's move on. My only reason for responding to this thread is to point out that comparing softball to basketball is one of the dumbest arguments that has been made in those several weeks.

The Clemson softball program had to recruit against very established and accomplished softball programs and has done an outstanding job. NILs aren't the only thing that recruits look at. Many smaller schools with no NIL money out-recruit Clemson in basketball.

Last week you weren’t even at 600 (still a huge number) so you’ve given out over 300 in a week!! You’re like the Jackie Collins of TDs cranking out new ones every minute.

That makes it even more embarrassing that our Softball program is in the top 5 in year 2. Brad just isn't a very good coach. Good coaches don't regularly miss the NCAA Tourney and lose to teams like Morehouse State and Loyola.

I’m hearing from a few of those closest to the program on here that BB is getting very close to where we all want to be. He needs a million per year increase for starters. That will show commitment and hopefully be enough to retain him. The new operations building will be the difference maker imo. As good as Brad is can you imagine his potential after they move in. Pep band has also been discussed and they are looking to add 5 more before next season to increase the decibel levels in LJ.
We are living in the most exciting times in the history of Clemson basketball and you will need to be sure to get your tickets early as the optimism ramps up they will be a hard get.
I can’t wait for next season! Right now and I know it’s early but they have us projected as the last 4 IN. Man I hope every one is as pumped and motivated as I am about next year!
GO TIGERS!!
