Is it Time for a "Donor's" NIL Summit

Jan 3, 2022, 6:28 PM

It may be time for Dabo to summon all of the big football donors to campus for an NIL Summit. It looks like several of the big time programs have organized their donors, or their donors have organized themselves to be systematic about distributing NIL $ and recruiting players. The most recent evidence are (1) that ridiculous statement that Venables and OU just issued about their recruitment of Caleb Williams from the transfer portal -- let that sink in, OU's recruitment of a player already on its roster -- and (2) Jimbo Fisher's comments about the money available at Texas A&M.

yep, clear indication Caleb and his dad are looking for more money! While they wait for the NFL.

No longer about getting a quality education in case the NFL doesn't work out is it? SMH!

You are correct, and the NFL won't work out for most of these players -- even the so-called "shoe-in" high round draft picks.

Honestly can’t believe how far we are behind. We’re usually ground breaking..trail blazing if u will. Can’t believe we couldn’t see this NIL thing coming a mile away and be sitting here today w our powder dry like the other big boy programs..I know Dabo hates the portal and NIL, hell I hate it! But it’s adapt or die in the CFB arms race...nobody knows this more than Dabo. Which leads me to believe he’s not interested in the least in getting involved in this murky, shady, nasty recruiting underworld. He always says u need synergy, everybody on the same page pulling in the same direction..and I certainly appreciate his character. But don’t fool yourself...the model program he built over the last decade will not sustain without getting fully involved w NIL from the top down. We can’t recruit against Uga bama etc with one arm tied behind our back

Look, you aren't going to see my name on a new medical school anytime soon, but am happy to donate into the IPTAY pot, even if only “Tiger Level.”

That said, if my somewhat hard earned money is going to be handed to players, I would rather just do that myself.

Maybe half of that IPTAY check instead goes to Miles Murphy for showing up at my kid’s birthday party or a private workout with Mukuba (he’s my oldest’s favorite)?

I’d get more out of that than some points I rarely can ever use being 2000 miles from Clemson.

It would have to be big time donors. The cheapskates on Tigernet won’t even donate a few bucks to this site.

I does donate, but I haven't seen any of our Tigernet
