No doubt he can... but as others have pointed out, will he take the steps. We'll know the answer shortly after our season is over.
I don't think it'll take as much as some think. We've gone through a few lean years of recruiting. Kinda like what ga tech had to do after Paul Johnson left. Saying, we recruited a certain type of player that isn't meshing with what we need... especially defense.
As for offense, our oline is lost. They have the skill set, but they're not using it. I also think cade isn't as good as advertised. He seems to do great with weak teams.

I agree with you about adaptability. The portal is not his friend. Texas A&M got Conception, Ga Tech got Mosley running back. Clemson got Tristian WR who was the star in the Spring but doesn’t play as a starter. The defensive end is starting.

I hope he can turn things around, but we are on year 5 of this decline so I can’t say I’m optimistic that he is capable of making us elite in this current era of college football.
The question is, how much grace did 2015-2020 earn him?
If I am Neff, I’m asking Dabo to give me a detailed plan of how he plans to fix things.

Check out the revenue and economic benefits to the school, the town and the state over the Dabo years and you quickly realize it was all money well spent.

If he adapts, gets experienced coaches and dumps the friends and family - yes. Is he too stubborn to prove he’s right - yes. Will he - probably not, and if no … more of the same as this season, Coots will own the State and a good season will be making it to any bowl game ..

I think a lot of that depends on how he responds. If he takes on the challenge of tearing it down and rebuilding it to address today’s game, he could pull it off. If he doesn’t have it in him, then we are talking about something completely different

Imo, that's an easy target. Personally, I think we have too many coaches and analysts period. We were doing just fine when there was coaching limits. It's like input overload and like government. Theory is good but the plans are too complicated and the wheels grind to a haul.
CJ needs to go because he hasn't proven he can recruit. Same as Conn and Reed. Both aren't recruiting as they should. Grisham on the other hand has brought in excellent talent. Too bad cade can't make the reads. I really think Vizz is better.

Vizzina definitely throws a better deep ball. We saw that last week. Wesco pulled up on the first one to wait for it like he has to do with Cade’s throws and it sailed over his head. Would have been in stride if he had kept running. Then the TD to Moore was perfect. I’ve always said that Cade’s passes downfield have too much air under them and allows the DB to recover. It takes a special receiver to go get those balls. Greathouse did it for him in high school and Cade got more credit than he should have. CV throws the deep ball with a much lower trajectory and it gets to the receiver quicker.

People act like great coaches are grown on trees. He won a Conference Championship and made the Playoff last year.
I get we're not a national title contender right now, but national title contender isn't really the norm for our program historically. Dabo consistently put us into that category for a prolonged period of time.
I don't know if anyone can do that at Clemson right now in this landscape, but I believe in Dabo to do it more than any other coach we could get.
Like, who's the top coach out there right now? James Franklin? Jimbo Fisher? Jon Sumrall? Do you all really think they're more likely to get us back to the top than Dabo?

with 3 ACC Titles and 2 Playoff Appearances.
If that isn't good enough for you, I'm sorry, but you probably need to start cheering for a different school.
From 2015-2020, we had one of the best runs in the history of college football. In all likelihood, that level of success probably isn't going to be replicated here at Clemson in our lifetime regardless of who the head coach is.
I do think we're capable of being a top-10 program with the potential to win another title at some point. The truth is, though, that even top-10 programs have their ups and downs. The only programs to even win a national title in the last 30 years are Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Clemson, Florida State, Auburn, Florida, Texas, USC, Miami, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Nebraska.
Those are the top programs, and all of those have had their ups and downs. Many have fired their once successful coach and still have never recovered because that championship-winning coach usually isn't the program's biggest issue.
Dabo knows what it takes to win at the highest level. Very few coaches do. As a result, I trust Dabo to fix the program's issues far more than I do anyone else we could possibly get as our next head coach.

Don't give me the ACC CRAP.......they're an awful conference and our "fallback" of WINS is inflated/insulated BECAUSE of the ACC...........Nationally we've been a SHELL of what we were.......if that.

I think Dabo can do it. He needs to hire an OC and DC that he trusts and let them do their thing and he goes back to administration CEO coaching. Hire a GM that handles the roster and the money. Recruit how he used to and use the portal to fill the holes.

Here is what you folks don't seem to understand, it may be years, or never, before we win a National Championship again but that in no way means we are not a highly successful program. Here are some numbers of "top" programs. These are the dates for last National Championships at these major schools.
Tennessee 1998 Florida 2006 Oklahoma 2000 Auburn 2010 Miami 2001 Florida St 2013 USC 2004 LSU 2019 Texas 2005
The thing that our Championships in 2016 and 18 have in common with these schools is they had generational QB's, Heisman winners and All Americans on both sides of the ball. While we may have those kind of players again, and soon, we may not. It is very, very hard to win a Championship and if anyone can do it, Dabo can.

we're not asking for a National Championship every year.
we're asking for success vs the elite outside of the crappy ACC.
from 2021-present we're 1-8 vs OOC P4/5 teams that finish w/ 8+ wins.

Dabo isn’t “done” he’s stubborn. There’s a difference. The man built Clemson into a dynasty from nothing, but the game evolved faster than his philosophy did.
You can’t win in 2025 by recruiting like it’s 2016 and pretending the portal doesn’t exist. Culture matters, but so do playmakers and they’re not all 4-year development guys anymore.
If he adapts, embraces NIL, the portal, and some fresh offensive minds, he can still win big here. But if he keeps trying to prove his way still works in a completely new era… then yeah, the climb back to the mountain top might never start.

We just hired new OC and OL coach and DC in the last couple of years, so much for fresh minds being the answer.

Hopefully, he will let the OC and the DC choose their own assistants--ones they know can help them be successful.

The decisions made this off season will tell the tale.
If everything is status quo, and no major changes are made… I think he’s done. Not that he will be fired immediately, but he will no longer have us as a top tier program.
If major changes are made, that means he recognizes the problems and is trying to fix them. If that’s the case, there may be a chance that he can right the ship.

I think he knows what to do but what he needs to do goes against his core principles and values. I think there is a fine line that he may be able to traverse to get the program back to relevance again, but replacing much of the staff is going to be initial move. Once this season is over and if he starts replacing many of the staff then I think he will do the other things needed like use the portal much more. I still believe that there are very good players out there that really want to be at a place like Clemson and be a part of that culture. $’s will always matter but 95% of the players are not going to make it to the NFL, that’s part of the Clemson allure, helping them obtain life skills and get them ready for a career beyond football. I hope Dabo stays, adapts and somehow is also able to keep Clemson that place that’s “just different”. Just my two cents worth.

I’m skeptical. I fully believe many changes are on the way, but does Dabo see/comprehend the actual problems? If he’s declaring the solutions are in areas that aren’t the real issues then it’s just going to get worse. As an example, the way he speaks about the talent on this team tells me he’s blind to the actual talent deficit. He’s still talking about needing to correct “football things”, clean up mistakes. Even the most casual outside observer sees cracks in the foundation of the program. A new coat of paint or shingles on the roof can brighten up the appearance but doesn’t help a house with rotted lumber.

Well, you obviously don't know the guy, at all. Nor have paid any attention to much of anything. I suggest don't post for six months and re-evaluate the use of your time.

It is not the college game he excels at recruiting and developing - it is a pro

…league now.
He has to recruit, PAY, & coach like a cutthroat professional league requires.
He may not have the desire, motivation, will, or financial resources to PAY what is required to get back to the top.
The college game is in a SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS.
I’m becoming more and more detached from an interest standpoint from the Clemson football team on a weekly basis.

Dabo has PROVEN he can take a team all the way. That said we just need to 1) get money from our HUGE alumni base compared to other contending schools 2) line up the millionaires from the aforementioned ranks 3) capitalize on our major media market 4) seize NIL deals with big time local corporations OH WAIT 🫣 Reality check. Continue to differentiate and accentuate what makes Clemson special because we simply cannot buy talent like many others.

We went on a good run for a few years where we got some great recruits including two NFL QB’s. That will not be repeated, and now we are reverting to the historical mean of Clemson football.

He’s far from done. The question is: how long will the rebuild take?? He has to start the process in earnest. Hard reset. Clean cupboards. New shelf liners. The whole 9 yards.

Dabo may be able to get Clemson back to winning again only if he embraces the new way of college football. If he doesn't then it's over for him. The old way of doing things are done.

I hope he can turn it around; but statistically, the odds are against him. But Dabo has overcome many daunting circumstances in his life.
