The best thing about Cade Klubnik to me is, with him, we

got back to "recruiting to match our system". DJ will never be a true "dual threat" QB, even if he wanted to be. He is your stereotypical "Pro Style" QB. He is trying hard to succeed in our system, because he knows that the NFL is shifting hard toward those types of offenses.
Any way you look at it, this is going to be an interesting year for Clemson football. We were just stuck last year when DJ struggled, without a real viable backup plan. That will not be the case this time around.

Interesting you point that out. It was discussed ad nassium during the season. I was a little confused because we ran our same offense, especially the first half seemingly a plug in play as if DJ was DW4 or Trevor... When, with his extra weight was NOT going to be pretty and it wasn't.
So I ask again. At some point during his recruiting, it had to come up as to what system we were going to run for him. Yes/no? Asking. Should I assume he (DJ) convinced the coaches he wished to become a dual threat. Idk. Hope we get to see both ball in spring game. Especially DJ without the weight.

I think you misunderstand what a dual threat QB is. A dual threat QB is someone who might not have a very accurate arm or is good at reading an offense, but they can use their athleticism to make options open up and are good enough at the other things to complete those passes once the defenders have to deal with their scrambling threat. A pro-style QB is someone who's more comfortable playing under center and using the pocket. It doesn't mean they necessarily can't use their feet some, but they're far more comfortable growing roots and instead making reads and relying on their accurate arm to complete passes. It's a bit of a spectrum and players can fall into different places on that spectrum (for example, Trevor Lawrence can use his feet well, but is still more comfortable staying in the pocket when he can (he was just incapable of doing so his junior year with us due to the line)).
Tom Brady, Joe Burrow, and Matthew Stafford are pro-style QBs. Deshaun Watson and Lamar Jackson are dual threats.
DJ is immobile and is incapable of ever being a dual threat QB. That's entirely true, and no amount of working out is changing that. But thus far, he's also really bad at making reads and accurately delivering the ball. He's definitely NOT the stereotypical pro quarterback. I was the biggest DJ fan before last season, but after the worst season in Clemson history behind center (and the second worst in the entire country), I don't think we can label him as either style of QB. I think we're at the point where we can just say, "Yep, he's listed as a QB on this roster."

I think maybe you also misunderstand what a dual threat QB is. A dual threat is simply supposedly a QB that can run. It doesn't mean he doesn't have an accurate arm or has anything to do with his reading a defense. The ones labeling DT and PP QBs are often wrong
I also don't believe it was the worst season in Clemson history behind center. You need to check your facts since Brandon Streeter on a 3-8 Clemson team in 1998 for example. There's many others.
Come on, man.
When people pull so called facts out of their backsides it makes them totally unbelievable and not worthy of actual football discussion. You don't even know what reads a QB makes or doesn't make, but you think you know it all.

Clemson is in good hands with QBs this year and beyond and this particular offseason w DJ will help rekindle playoff level results. Especially with this Defense rolling out like it’s 2018.2

CK's Not Just a Fast Learner....

He's quick and fast on his feet.... Escape-ability comes to mind from watching his HS game videos.... and when he's moving forward he can put a little zip on the ball.... If he can add 10-15 more lbs. without sacrificing the quickness, then we may see him early and often in the fall....

I love Klubnik. I think he'll be great. But it is funny how often the second team QB is the most loved guy on the roster.
I saw every game last year. I know how it went. I also know Dabo is our coach and we have an experienced QB returning who won 10 games last year.
Go Tigers!!

Good read, it just shows the intelligence of Cade. When his time comes I think we will have another top QB in college football.
