In-state recruiting

I know that the coaches aren't consciously neglecting the state. That would be ridiculous.
However, it does feel like we aren't putting an emphasis on in-state recruiting nearly to the same level that South Carolina is.
They have 10 signees from the state, while Clemson only has 2.
They offered 19 players from the state, while Clemson only offered 4.
Does anyone think that this is a mistake?

Plus ... believe it or not.... these kids want to get out. Clemson is in a small pond and they want to take the big boats out to get bigger fish if they could. Lately the bait we use has just been limited compared to what everyone else or the programs with cash are using

Didn't SC get the QB from Westside? How long will he sit behind Sellers?

I disagree. There's something about playing for your home team that adds extra juice.

This ^ Spurrier beat us with in state recruiting while he was at Coot Tech and beat us 5 years straight. Dabo seems to be taking a page out of the Tommy Bowden book as far as “no one in this state is worth our time.”

You can’t make a living on instate recruits but there are always a few as good as anywhere. We missed on two OL that Beamer out recruited us last year. Thompson started as a freshman in the OL for them this year. Beamer is a younger Dabo that is beating us at times.

Clemson recruits more nationally than does SC. They use the portal much better than us and this allows them to compete with us. I hope Dabo like Brad Brownell will realize the need.

Like a preacher once had. “We are going to take a mission team to Provo.” Nevermind plenty of opportunities to help people in Pickens County. “We are going to support this church in Hawaii, and I will check it out.” Travel on others’ dime. Anyone ever tried to explain salvation is free to a Mormon?

He's 2-2 against Dabo with lesser talent to this point. That is certainly something to ponder.

When you are picking up 4-5* players from around the nation then you can skip recruiting SC since typically only 3-5 players are 4* or better in SC, although I do think SC players are often underrated due to the fact we don't have in-state scouts like other states, GA, FL, Bama, TX, Calf, etc.

Yeah, that can make sense, if you're picking up 4-5 stars around the nation. South Carolina had double the blue chips we had recruiting this year.

When there’s a solid QB recruit 20 miles from campus who wants to come to Clemson. might be wise to talk to him

If we do not see this team respond to the way The Coot fans and players disrespected our home next year, then we have a clear answer. Talent is not as deep as other states, but want someone to give a dang about protecting what’s ours!

We should consider Georgia as an in-state recruitment base.

We still do pretty well there, and supposedly the talent pool is very deep.

It is all relative. There are more good football players in the city of Atlanta than in the entire state of SC. You have to recruit football players, wherever they might be.
