The above names listed are close friends that sacrificed EVERYTHING so that you can live the way you live today. There are many not listed that I knew personally that passed away while serving in a different unit. While I served with them in the same unit in the past, they were not actively serving with me whenever they passed away. The above mentioned were actively serving with me on a deployment whenever they gave up the ghost and, in many cases, I witnessed their deaths.

Thank you for your service and God bless all these soldiers and their families. I went down the list and read each name out loud. They deserve recognition and for their names to be spoken. Sorry you had to witness all these horrible deaths. It’s a burden that I know many military men carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Corporal Hubert P. Terrell, American Expeditionary Force, Company I, 118th Infantry (SC), KIA- Distinguished Service Cross for Valor near Vaux-Andigny, France October 12, 1918.
Less than 1 month before Armistice Day. The most precious family possession I own ( or should I say, am 'steward' of...)

Cpl. OUELLETTE Called in his own Med-Evac after being wounded several times and continued to direct the fires of his men. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his wounds, but the Taliban paid dearly after the fact. We got some get back for him.
EDITED FOR ADDITIONAL INFO.... HE ALSO PROVIDED FIRST AID TO HIMSELF WHILE CONTINUING TO FIGHT. HE TIED TOURNIQUETS ON HIMSELF WHILE CONTINUING TO FIGHT THE ENEMY. Hence, why I called him a beast of a man.

Thanks for posting this Chesty. It baffles me to see people like Lester Wagner on here everyday bashing our President. I don't understand how people hate America as much as he does .

He doesn’t hate America but he does recognize a con man when he sees one. You don’t have to love your prez to love your country. I’ve never hated my country when we gave a president I don’t like.

Their loyalty is to a president. Phony patriots.
That’s probably the worst post in this thread, and there are several BS ones to choose from.

Hindsight is 20/20 and the first casualty of any war is always the truth. There’s no way that they would raise the military age requirement to 30 years old because too many people would ask questions and demand accountable answers. Information warfare is the oldest form of warfare in that it has been weaponized for centuries without the aid of technology and my fellow Tiger fan it is only going to get worse with AI advancements. As much as it pains me to say it, my brothers in arms gave their lives fighting a pointless war against an enemy that was created by the U.S. government in the first place. If you hit a hornet nest with a baseball bat, then I suppose you can expect a few stings here or there regardless of how much power you can project. The Taliban in no way posed a threat to American democracy or even American security. Prior to the invasion, they didn’t even have the infrastructure, intelligence, or capability of any attack on US soil. Nor did they have the aspirations to do so. 20-Years later and most Afghans can’t even tell you what 9/11 is. It was all horse cocky and I for one hope that those responsible for the loss of innocent lives pay a hefty price on the Day of Judgement before the Almighty and I also pray forgiveness for those ignorant as I was for going over there.

I read multiple obituaries out loud to my family today. All were Clemson graduates and I chose one from every conflict. From World War One to the war on terror. Many gave some while some gave all. God bless each and every one. They deserve remembrance on this day. Freedom ain’t free. Thank you for your price you paid. God bless.

I still say my visit to Pearl City Hawaii was the most moving of all for me. I never knew Elvis Presley paid for the Hawaii memorial out of his own pocket. We toured the shipwrecks in 2017 and there wasn’t a dry eye on our boat. My grandfather was a survivor of Hawaii and lived many years after but it changed him forever. His Purple Heart and service medals bring such pride to our family. Like so many others he forged his birth certificate to enlist early at 16. His birth says 1918 when in fact it was 1920. He earned the Purple Heart at just 17 years old. We could all strive to be as great.

When you are looking at a friend’s foot as it detonates an IED, when someone tells you to stand behind a stone wall to cover him and it’s the last words he speaks, or when a bomb your tank just passed over destroys another one with 10 lives lost. But still wars are raging in our world as we celebrate our freedom! Will it ever stop ?

The Bible tells us that there will be: Matthew 24:6-13 New International Version 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

GOD BLESS THEM ALL
Thank you for your support. However, we didn't fight for your freedom. God gave you freedom from the day you were born. Ever since, the only ones chipping away at your freedoms with an ink pen are elected officials who hold a fear of losing total control of our daily lives. A wise man once told me that if we all followed Moses' Ten Laws, we wouldn't require man's 10,000 laws.
What we did do was fight for your status in the world. The U.S. isn't even #1 on the freedom scale. No, that award goes to Somalia because they don't even have a central government. What makes America so nice and cozy to live in is the blood we spill so that people can maintain a social status of living that allows them to purchase a $7.00 latte at Starbucks and complain about a pickle on their sandwich at the drive thru at Burger King. Where America is number 1 is Economic strength and Military Strength and it isn't even close. The U.S. I believe ranks #34 in the world for civil liberties. However, if you switched those numbers around and made the U.S. number 1 in liberty and 34 in military strength/economy then your life as you know it would be an unrecognizable nightmare.

I understand your reply but I heard another veteran who said Thank you for our freedom rather than saying thank you for your service.
And I agree with "A wise man once told me that if we all followed Moses' Ten Laws, we wouldn't require man's 10,000 laws"
Over the weekend I saw the sacrifices that you all made against pure evil and insanity including those that sacrificed their lives.

Sergeant Joseph Lee Wrightsman. He didn’t perish on the same deployment as me, but we served in the same unit prior to my departure from the Marine Corps.
While serving in 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines, he selflessly jumped into the Helmand River in Afghanistan without hesitation to save the life of an Afghan soldier who had fallen into the river. He did not have time to drop his gear / body armor but instead jumped into the rushing waters without hesitation to save the life of another human being. It’s one of my favorite stories because it shows the true heart of Joe Wrightsman. While he didn’t perish from enemy attack, he did so by saving the life of another human being that wasn’t even an American. However, he was a fellow squad leader and during training that man was the devil towards his subordinate Marines. After working hours, he enjoyed spending time with them while they all bonded. Meaning, he was hard as they come but had a heart full of love for his Marines.
