I'm in a dilemma. Need help.

Or at least a little understanding from folks.
Years ago coots were not on my radar of favorite teams or despised teams. Then, 3 things happened.
1. They hire Spurrier. That moves them way up my despised list. 2. They hire Muschamp. That moves them even further up. 3. I start posting regularly on TNET. You guys give me a great understanding of the coots and that moves them even further up the list.
Now, I'm at the point that when they are on TV I make it a point to watch them hoping they lose. I check on their scores when I am watching another game, and check in on them during commercials.
Well, now, they are playing the Gators. Sorry, folks, but they haven't replaced the Gators at the top of my list.
Dan Mullen is getting blasted by their fans and by the media. (He made a stupid statement about recruiting that has the media piling on. The fans were already ready to fire him Saturday night.)
So, here is my dilemma.
1. Do I root for the coots to win? If they do, Mullen will probably be fired - maybe even before the end of the season. That would be good.
2. Do I root for the coots to lose (I can't imagine rooting for UF to win) so that Mullen may not be fired. Maybe he will win just enough games where the AD will "give him one more year." That would be good.
Y'all forgive me. In my heart I know that the best thing to happen would be for Florida to win a boring game by 3-2 or something. But, I can't see me actually sitting and watching a game hoping they win.
So, I'll probably watch the game wanting the coots to win 3-2, but won't be upset if they lose. No matter what happens, as an FSU fan, I can take something positive out of the result.
(Don't hate me for not wanting the coots to lose.)
Maybe, y'all can convince me to pull for Florida. I'm open to the idea.

I would. That is why I won't be upset if they win. The best thing that could happen is they win just enough games to keep him.
One Gator website is already listing potential replacements.

see who you end up pulling for. Whether you pull for UF or U6C, none of the team or players will know and it won't have any bearing on the game - just your pride, perhaps
I've tried a couple of times to pull for the coots (don't ask me why - I have no idea), and just can't do it. I love seeing them screw up and lose. It's just very enjoyable!
You'll end up cheering for one or the other, or maybe you'll end up cheering for both defenses. Who knows!

Pull for FL. THE Satan needs more than 1 team to be competitive against his NFL lite team. I know you hate FL, understandably being a FSU fan, but Gainesville and Fl have always been a good place to attend a college FB game.

I think you need to pull for the coots. Puts Fla in more disarray, perhaps Mullen would be fired. Then maybe some instate kids decide to stay home and attend FSU instead. All about recruiting. Even if coots win, they're still a dumpster fire and won't affect FSU recruiting.
I want them to beat Fla this year. Get an even bigger head than they have now. Some are already penciling Clemson as a win this year. I want them sky high when we play. Because when the balloon burst, it's all the more fun.

You can never pull for an in state rival. Never. Just Never.
However if Gators win, you are allowed to feel better knowing that coots lost.

No dilemma for Clemson fans. No true Tiger would pull for South Carolina against anyone. WE don't have a dog in the Florida situation so it doesn't matter.

Root for the meteor.
If I were an FSU fan, I'd root for SCarolina. This game will mean very little to SCar if they win it (and even less to FSU), other than give them a fighting chance to make a 4th-tier bowl game, and to declare Shane Beamer's first season a "success" because nobody gave them much chance of winning more than 4 games this year. It would probably be their signature win of the year which would sting UF fans pretty bad. It would do a lot of damage to UF's psyche towards the end of the season.
If UF wins, it would be a crucial road win in front of what will probably be a fairly raucous night-game crowd. It would give them momentum in the softest part of their schedule, before their rivalry game, as well as all but ensure they'll make a bowl game of some sort.

At the end of November, if FSU beats UF, and Clemson beats the coots, all is right in the world of rivals.

That way it doesn't put you in the dilemma of being for either one.
You get the satisfaction of being right about one team and knowing you were against the winning team too!

Just roll with it and think either way you'll be good. You hate your rival Gators and until Beamer, Uof6C was an ex-Gator coached team. IMO, FL is going to win for Mullen because of the hot seat. Like others said just watch another game and don't worry about FL until November 27th when FSU plays them.

Pull for Florida so Mullen can stay. I hated it when the chickens got rid of Muschamp. He was the gift that kept on giving. On another note, I was happy to have the Fla St band back at DV. As much as I hate the song, they sure sounded good playing your war chant.

This is what I do in those situations.
Root for each teams defense. Then laugh hysterically at each teams failures. Salivating in the thoughts of “when we play them we’re going to crush this crap hole of a team”

forever and as such you just have to pull for USuC against the swamp lizards. Think of it as pulling for the Gators to lose and not for USuC to win...
By the way - I understand your dilemma. I have a similar dilemma every year when the coots play the UGA leghumpers. I've settled it by just pulling for USuC to lose and not really caring if UGA wins. If the unlikely happens and USuC somehow beats UGA - I can also take satisfaction in seeing the leghumpers lose. That game will always have a satisfying outcome because one of the teams I dislike the most is guaranteed to get a loss...

You are in the same dilemma every true Tiger fan has
Nov 2, 2021, 9:26 AM
|
|
whenever the Coots play Jawja. In that situation, all I can do is wish for is a scoreless tie, and the stadium collapses before the game ends.
Butt siriusly, in the end, the vitriolic hatred (for us) of Coots should take over. For you, the same would be true, just substitute Florida for the Coots. You just can't ever root for your arch-rival to have success.
It's like this. I had a Coot coworker at my first job in industry, who told me he was rooting for Nebraska to beat us in the 1981 National Championship game. I was admonishing him for not showing some state pride, and rooting for the Tigers.
His reply? "If Clemson was playing Russia, I would root for RUSSIA!" That's some sirius hate, right there, Comrade.

ALWAYS root for the Coots to lose.......ALWAYS!! There is no middle ground on this. They are losers, always have been, always will be. So pulling for them to lose should be an easy task. A very wise man once said: "If the Coots were playing the devil himself, ya gotta pull for satan."

Your desired result should be:
Gators win ugly, but still get a W in the column and the coots an L.
Ugly win means they don't look so hot heading down the stretch toward playing FSU.
Then Mullen inserts foot in mouth again after the game.
Mullen saves himself by firing Grantham at the end of the year (best for everyone when Grantham leaves the state they live in).
Mullen continues to insert foot in mouth over the offseason, but evades the ax until after the '22 season.
This delays the rebuild by another year while effectively getting them a little further behind in recruiting and making the job a little harder for the next guy.
Now that you agree with me and see the light, I will thank you for hoping the coots lose again this Saturday.
