I'm having a real psychological problem

So, I'm a nervous nelly type fan. I don't know if it's all the scars left over from the West/Bowden years, or my disposition, or a combination of both, but I'm not normally the type to talk smack and be all hyper-confident. I see the possible pitfalls in every game and worry about the worst possibilities, rather than fully expecting us to rise to the occasion. Of course, over the years, I've learned to expect more since Dabo and his staff and the players have consistently proved themselves. And yet, I'm still fairly reserved in my expectations, respecting our opponents and just not wanting to be too presumptuous.
That said, I have a good feeling about this game. Joe Burrow is apparently/supposedly Tom Brady Squared, and no one can stop him/them, and blah blah blah. Look, I have a TON of respect for LSU's offense, but people are completely ignoring our defense. The way i see it, BOTH offenses will get their points, but someone's D will have to "break serve" so to speak. I don't think Clemson will have to win a defense-less shootout and "keep up" with Burrow & Co.., I think LSU will need to make more stops than our D, i.e. "keep up" with OUR DEFENSE, and I like our chances given that comparison.
But now that I'm optimistic, I'm worried I'm being overconfident. All these years being a nervous nelly and Clemson wins so much. Now I'm worried I'm confident and we'll lose! Talk me off the ledge!
Signed, Nervous Nelly

I'd recommend a nice, easy hobby like sky diving or mountain climbing. Both will definitely make you forget the football.

LSU is an extremely quality opponent. They've won big games against good teams this year and deserve all the respect in the world. I figured they'd beat OU without much trouble, but they really took the Sooners out to the woodshed.
Part of the problem is that we haven't really been challenged this year. I'm not dumping on the ACC, specifically, because Texas A&M and USC didn't pose a challenge either. And, honestly, it's tough figuring out how good we are without some sample of us playing against similarly skilled opposition. We did that against OSU and played just good enough to win. It certainly wasn't our "A" game.
In my 4 decades of watching Clemson football, I believe this is the best team we've ever had. They're not quite as consistent as I'd like to see. But, when they are "ON" they are really impossible to beat.
One edge I'll give to Clemson is with our coaching staff being involved in with these players for their entire college career. Coach O at LSU has done great work, but they'll be better in the coming years if they can keep that staff together for a while.

Don't worry, we'll blow them out. Sound argument: we beat Bama easily in last year's championship game, and I don't understand concepts of sample size & roster turnover. So, I expect similar results-

When you think we'll win, you have to rely on the analytics

and that's where my college football simulators with my patented algorithms come into play. Every single one of them, when put through a simulation of the game Monday night have produced a 21+ point victory for Clemson. And before you start doubting my patented algorithms, I'll have you know that I developed them and started using them in the 2018 season and they have correctly predicted the winner of every single Clemson game since then. So this game is a lock, it's no longer a feeling of we think we will win, it's concrete. We can say with 100% certainty that we will win.
If that doesn't settle your nerves, nothing will.

I get nervous before games, too. But I look at it this way. I could be mistaken, but I don't think LSU has faced a defense as good as ours (OU certainly didn't give them any challenge), and I don't think their defense is as good as Ohio State's. We might get into a shootout, but I think our offense can put points on their defense, and our defense will make enough stops to win. LSU is more likely to get a few scores on big plays than to score on us when they get down to the red zone.

Let some objective maffs relieve your subjective concerns

LSU has the #1 scoring offense in the country at 49 points per game. (don't panic yet) Clemson has the # 1 scoring defense in the country at 12 points per game. (see, better already) If we assume that each has an equal effect on the other, then LSU scores 31 points Monday night.
Clemson has the #4 scoring offense in the country at 45 points per game. (Okay, wait for it) LSU is #29 in scoring defense in the country at 22 points per game. (getting better all the time) If we assume that each has an equal effect on the other, then Clemson scores 34 points Monday night
That means that, in the CFP game, Clemson will score more points than LSU and by my calculations they will win the game. A lot of people talk about recruiting rankings, or draft status, or defensive schemes, or completion percentages or all kinds of silly, emotional things, but when you come right down to the maffs of it - football is a simple and objective game. Go Tigers !!
