If you think about it (but I’m not saying you should), what better way to trick aspiring trumpet, saxophone and sousaphone players into opting for playing tuba instead?
No body wants to play a tuba, but seriously, what would a marching band be without tuba players.
I’ma need some help explaining bass drummers though….

for Tiger Band.
And they were the latest, greatest version - made by Conn.
Only 2 major bands were going to have them in their first year - us and the leghumpers.
Gonna be all kinda promo stuff, pictures, magazine covers for music trade rags, etc.
We were 2 players short of 16 - Bruce Cook asked for volunteers - I volunteered.
Nevermind I was a sax player - and had never played brass.
And nevermind I was 160lbs soaking wet and that thing weighs 37lbs !!!!
And the last nevermind - I did not know that the tuba line had seniors on it who had the RULE - once you unracked the tuba in the band room - you DID NOT EVER put it down - until you reracked it.
Was a brutal first few months.
Wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.
1 girl, 15 dudes - as tight a buncha Clemson Family as you could ever find.
