high quality commits as much as politics do. It is no secret, due to all of the publicity Clemson has received lately, that Clemson is a relatively (uuhm, uuhm) Conservative university with an athletic staff that isn't afraid to wear their faith out on their sleeves.
I believe that parents (families) who stem from a more Conservative, religious bent are weighing into this choice more than ever and are influencing their boys to lean towards Clemson.
Compare the news you hear about Clemson both academically, athletically, socially compared to the FSUs, Auburns, South Carolina, UF, etc. and then look at geography. Clemson is a "private-like" university in the Southeast that has shown an incredibly strong commitment to being successful in Football and academics. All we need now is to match the football level of commitment in some of the other "Olympic" sports.
May not be PC but just my opinion.
