Numerous assistant changes and a minimum of double digit portal additions.

I’ll play along, Conn, Boulware, Eason, Spiller and Reed potentially Rumph and Grisham would all be in the cheese line the Sunday after the Coots game. He has a lot of decisions to make regarding his football program, those are just on the surface.

Bouleware may be the LB coach but Allen is in charge of the linebackers. He hasn't done any better there than at DC.

I agree with most all that, i would give Boulare 1 more year, not so much for strategy but i thought the main purpose of having Ben on staff is too get the "wild man" knock the stew out of people type vibe, i'll give him another year if i dont see it again though he;d be gone, Grisham to me has not been bad, cant hold him responsible for the QB's we put out there, rest of guys you mentioned are Dabo yes men, and have no value if lost.

The elephant in the room is obviously the assistants, coordinators, etc., but I really think you have to take a big step back and ask "what is it about the program that no longer translates to success in the greater cfb landscape?" I don't have the answer, but whether it's the way we scheme, the way we practice, the way we develop, the way we hold people accountable, etc., it should all be addressed and a new model needs to be built.
I don't agree with a lot of the people who claim that you can't be a development-first program in the transfer portal era of college football. However, there's clearly something not right about the way guys are developing in this program.
I absolutely am alright with Dabo needing to make some drastic changes this offseason even if it means it might hurt for a year or two. But riding the same wave we've been on for the last few years is going to signal to me that we're probably not making it back to the same heights as 2015-20. What we did in those six years is insanely difficult to do, and I don't fault anybody for not being able to repeat that level of success. But I think it's pretty cowardly to keep repeating the same rhetoric about past success and not try for new success if it means continuing to innovate. This is a sport that's built on innovation, and the second you stop trying new things is the second you fall behind.

Submit to the portal. Overhaul the staff Become hungry and cut throat again both on the field and managing the staff/roster
It will take a philosophical change in mindset for him to do this which doesn’t give me the confidence that he will. I’ve been saying it for FIVE years now…….he either adapts or the decline will continue.

Count my 60 million and say anyone who doesn't like it can spin?

Obviously, none of us knows the inner workings so this is all highly speculative. But I would a) drop a lot of talent that doesn't seem to be getting things done at this level b) heavily recruit the portal for players that can help right away... nothing silly, but 10-12 good solid guys that can start or challenge for starting positions c) Coaching staff - I would drop the entire offensive staff (full transparency... I haven't liked our offense for a while so I'm definitely biased) save Matt Luke and rehire a coordinator and then work with him to bring in the best position guys (who should definitely be out there given the madness of the coaching carousel this year). d) Coaching staff defense - I would keep Allen, which might be the most contentious thing on this list, but pretty much everyone else would be gone and I would work with Allen to bring in the best guys we can get
This is honestly less a screed against the current staff/homegrown guys and more I just think we need to drastically shake things up. Word is that Dabo said after the loss to NC State (just before the TY-ler call a few years ago) that he let the coaches know they were coaching for their jobs. And sure we turned it around that year but seem to have fallen back into bad habits this year and I don't think you can threaten that over and over... you have to push that button.
It's not personal, just time for a change.

I've been wholly unimpressed with Tom Allen, and there really hasn't been much to show that the defense has actually gotten better as the season has progressed. On the other side of the ball, I really feel like Riley is a good coordinator who hasn't gotten a fair shake on being able to run the offense with full autonomy. The scheme still reeks of one from 2014, and the preponderance of gimmicky play-calling really makes it feel like Dabo still has his grubby little hands all over the offense. If anything needs to change on that side, I think you need to ditch a few position coaches and let Riley run wild with things. TCU hasn't been the same since 2022, and I don't think it's a coincidence that Riley hasn't been there since then.
Totally agree on everything else

Yeah, I get all that. I'm willing to give Allen the benefit of the doubt seeing what he did with Penn St. and that this is his first year. It took even Venable as year and a half or so to really get his stuff rolling, and I think he was the best DC in the nation during his time with us. But you're right, this year the defense (especially the d-line) has just be an all around disappointment.
I know that it's a common thought on here that Dabo is messing with the offense but I think we have to move forward assuming he's not because if he IS then it doesn't matter who we get going forward, the offense will look the same. I happen to NOT think this is the case (because it seems plausible to me that if he was meddling he would have been meddling the whole time and we were an offensive powerhouse for 8 or so years and I don't think you get a hot commodity like Riley without giving him free reign) which is why I admitted I'm biased AGAINST the style of offense he runs which is why I would likely see him gone.
Honestly, I'm worried it's going to be one or two position coaches and that's all rather than him changing too much.

THIS 100%. My wife and I were at the game and there were 5 defensive coaches in the huddle . I told my wife thats 4 too many. I wouldn't know whether I was coming or going with all those voices in my ear.

promote ANYONE form within. Not ONE SINGLE PERSON on that staff has earned that right.
Now.. Dabo would have to completely overhaul his entire belief system. Which I don't believe he will do, especially after he said after our loss to Duke, "I have to be true to what I believe... get back to what I believe in...." I think that means MORE OF THE SAME.
But man, I sure hope not.

I truly believe Dabo has 2 years to right this sinking ship and afterwards he part ways if he doesn't get Clemson back.

How many years does it take Matt Luke to teach the OL how to block? I think he has proven he can’t coach ‘em’ up to play any better than the last OL coach.

Luke is the big mystery to me. The O line really improved from 2023 to 2024 but went backwards this year. Riley should be gone.
