I'm 66 and very active. My 40-time is irrelevant.
However, I'm extremely accurate with my semi-automatic handguns.

Ran track in HS. (Distance, not sprints.) Ran 10Ks in my late 20s to mid 40s. Had my knee scoped at age 45. Dr said, "You have a 90 year old knee in a 45 year old body." My running days were over. After 8 or so years of inactivity I started walking again. (I still have my "90 year old knee" 27 years later, but I now have arthritis in both knees.)
Doing some quick calculations I might be able to break 16 seconds. Now, that would be walking. If I were being chased by a pit bull with aids, I could probably run those 40 years and get it to around 12 seconds.

In my playing days I was 4.65 to 4.7, now it would be likely 7.5. I still played travel softball into my 50's and could get around the bases pretty well, but I learned early if I hit it out of the park I could jog, so I got pretty good at that. On a regulation 300' park I was good for about 2 a game, although I did have a streak of 9 straight one time, then they put me on first and messed up my streak. LOL!

When I turned 40, I made a big push to get into "the best shape of my life" which was more like "the best shape I'll be in before I die." I was doing a jump program and working every muscle group in the gym and also going for endurance on the elliptical, all the things.
We would finish our evening walks and I'd sprint against my wife and 12-year-old son back to the house. I thought I could clock a pretty good 40 time, so I tried it. It was embarrassingly high, something like 5.8 seconds.
Now I'm 51 with a bum knee and a bad foot and two bad shoulders. I'd be lucky to jog it in 8 seconds.

I'm 77 and during my walk this morning I timed a 40 yd.dash on asphalt. I used my iphone and I stopped it at right at 10 seconds, guessing it tiik a second or so to find and push the button. I didn't go all out because I didn't want to face p[lant in asphalt ..... so I probably ran a 9:00. On grass with someone timing and going all out I am guessing around a 8:00.
