If you could replace any one staff member at the end of the season, who would it

Be?
For me, it would be Austin. Clemson has been mediocre at offensive line for so long. It’s time to bring in an experienced proven recruiter and developer. Fix the office of line and our mediocre, wide receivers are better, our mediocre running backs are better, and our five star quarterback might be able to actually improve.

I, just like everyone else in this thread, have no idea how good he is at his actual; so, it's as good a reason to fire someone as you're likely to read here.

I agree. Learn on the job is a big risk for an Oline. It’s like the saying “when your feet hurt you hurt all over”. Poor Oline play hurts the 6 other players trying to do their jobs. I get it that Dabo brought on Austin as an analyst before Caldwell stepped aside, but so far the result of the coaching transition on the field hasn’t been acceptable. Yes, the Parks injury hurt, but it’s the Austin’s job to develop a two deep position group to overcome injuries. Clemson can’t afford to allow the Oline to continue to drag down the offense. With zero run game you got big problems, especially in the redzone. It’s not complicated. Pay well for an experienced coach with a resume of success. In the long view, setting Austin loose is doing him a favor. He needs to step down to the G5 level and learn how to develop players. At that level there’s plenty of opportunities to figure out how to mold a raw talent. At Clemson he’s struggled to develop 4 star talent, and that’s a big problem.

Because of “injuries”, Austin will get a pass for at least another season. Wait and see.

LOL at you for wanting to pick just one. Your ### has been trying to replace every coach in the entire Athletic Department.

Cade is not yet running that offense like he can and will. We haven’t implemented that entire TCU offense, and Cade is the reason. He is lacking in field vision and still gets the yips from time to time.
Riley walked into a situation at TCU with a QB who had 4 years of experience. Cade not so much.
And Cade obviously isn’t a ready made NFLer like we’ve seen here. He’s more the traditional developmental QB who by the time they’re juniors and seniors are much better.
Go back and watch the kid at TCU. He was running the ball and the playbook was much much bigger. We’re not there yet obviously, but only ignorance would drive a “fan” to want to fire him already. That’s just stupid.

Difference of opinion

And said somewhat sarcastically.
I have not seen anything extraordinary. He is not putting Cade in positions to be successful. The pass play inside the 5 with seconds to go in the half is one example. The pass/run option against the Noles in overtime is another.
Granted, the offensive line disaster is limiting. But, I have not seen anything unique or different from previous years that makes me believe he is some kind of guru.
And, Cade still makes the same mistakes when flushed from the pocket he made earlier in the year. Retreating backwards usually then throwing the ball up for grabs. No improvement.
Maybe Lincoln takes him to the NFL.

My vote is to gut that staff and start brand new. I don’t like seeing our trenches getting pushed around and not being able to get tough yards. This team needs a whole new physical level in my opinion. We are “soft” on the OL, but I think a lot of that has to do with lacking lower body strength. Our guys do not look like they’re as muscular in their lower bodies and that’s the source of power on the OL.

Not sure his style fits Riley's game plan but if Arkansas lets Sam Pittman go he'd be a solid OL coach. He's a great recruiter and has an impressive resume.

A second shot would be Matt Luke. Was a HC at Ole Miss and couldn’t turn it around and ended up at UGA for a stint before he burned out. I like his experience and I think he would wire up into Dabo’s culture — coaching quality of life — well.

We are paying him nearly $2 million a year to be our offensive coordinator. He should get to choose his own position coaches.

Do you remember when Coach V asked to bring staff? Coach said he would do all the hiring. Don’t think that has changed.
