Many of these games are already set into the 30's. Going to take years to unravel them. I for one am happy about that. Rather play Georgia, LSU and Oklahoma anyway.

You don't have to go back too far to know what's going to happen.
A couple years back, most conferences were talking about going to a 9 game conference schedule. With the added 9th game, games previously scheduled are going to be canceled. We lost a home and home with Ole Miss due to this potential.
SEC will go to the 9th conference game and we will lose games currently scheduled. Just because they aren't currently talking about changing schedules doesn't mean it isn't in the works.

It would be possible to work in games between the conferences sooner. Be nice to trade SC State game for USC. Give SC State a nice check too for the change.

This is just my opinion, but the benefits, from what I am reading into it, is not so much designed for the foreseeable future in regards to schedules, but to keep the SEC from gaining the upper hand in regards to future NCAA and CFP rules and regulations ,expansions and realignment issues. In other words, it's all about preventing a power move by the SEC. The SEC is looking to become ,IMO, the dominant conference in college sports and I am certain we would all love nothing better than "to see a 12 game CFP with say 6 or 7 SEC teams involved". And that is how the ALLIANCE will work for the foreseeable future.

Nothing could stick it to the SEC and Skanky better than going to an eight team playoff, but limiting it to no more than two teams per conference. And don't make any special concessions for Notre Dame either!

My guess, the initial objective is to form a voting block that can counter sec's attempt to run college football. Also, a shot across the bow, don't come after any of our guys, if you want to expand again go back to the little 12 or the G5.
From what I'm reading the common ground is, trying to keep 'student' in student athlete, oppose 12 team playoff, and keeping support for non-revenue sports.
Scheduling might be further down the road. I know that gets complicated.
Then again, what do I know?

It is not about changing anything- I see it as stopping the SEC from dictating the rules> Can somebody tell me- who has more money coming in as a conference SEC? PAC? BIG? I know it is not the ACC. Yet- Clemson seems to be doing just fine!
I would guess the PAC. If that is the case then it is proof that money can not buy you a football program.

I agree with the sentiment in this thread

The move is more about the long term than short term. The major short term move is to either nix playoff expansion or reduce it.
Longer term, seems like they want to break ESPN's monopoly on the playoff and bring in Fox. I love that idea.
The scheduling thing doesn't even register with me. That is VERY long term.

From what I understand - listening to sport radio - there is a meeting coming up in September to begin formulating the new CFB Playoff structure - how many teams , etc. If an alliance is formed before that meeting, or is working for nothing other than to keep the SEC from controlling the playoff's, then an alliance can have voting power over how that playoff is organized. I would support that!

Imagine if we are in 2025 and they SEC has 16 teams but the playoff is still at 4 or 6. That's a pretty stupid move by Texas and Oklahoma.

This is what I'm hoping for

Before the UT/OU story broke, I liked the idea of playoff expansion (except for how it would increase the number of games for the players).
I hope it stays at 4. Better yet, they should limit it to max one team per conference. Since that won't happen, I'll accept a 6-team playoff with a max of two teams from a conference. This way, UT and OU probably won't ever make the playoff.
For the record, I don't expect Lincoln Riley to stay at OU much longer. No doubt in my mind he's bound for the NFL. That program will sink like a rock after he leaves and become the equivalent of Arkansas.

The benefit is to block the a$$wipes in the SEC from voting to place 50-70% of the playoff slots with SEC teams. They don't play by the rules, never have never will. I had just as soon watch CU-Oregon, CU-Buckeyes, CU-Real USC, Penn State and others.
If the other P5 schools drop games against the SEC then they can go to a 10 game conference schedule and play Samford and N Alabama - we recruit the south as well as anyone, getting a few O-linemen from Wisky and Iowa would be a good thing and pulling skill guys out of the midwest and farwest.
