The contract is pretty airtight. Schools signed over everything to acc. Acc signed over to espn for a raise in revenue and an acc network.
Espn has no incentive to renegotiate and can block any move by a school to the big 10. Espn has no incentive to move anyone to the sec where the schools would get more money, and take away content from their bargain costs in the acc.
The contract does state that any school that joins the acc is bound to this same contract and does not mention any renegotiation
Now, I think it’s time to explore a 4-6 team expansion and promotion for schools such as
App St. E Carolina. S Florida. UConn. Louisiana. UAB.
Before you say no way, Espn would immediately incur an increase of $240 million per year to the acc. Plus all the costs of televising games from all these locations. Let that marinate.
They may be a little more open to the renegotiation of the current deal. And playing these schools , is it really any different than opening in Durham on Labor Day night? Some of the matchups would be better.

Have you seen the actual GOR agreement? I ask as I have not seen where it is available anywhere on the web so could you provide a link? If you have not actually seen the document, how could you know how to build a plan to break the agreement?

Would you not think opening or leaking news of possible expansion, and you could pick any six you like, would put some pressure on espn?

It is not available to the public and only available to the signatory parties at league HQs from what I’ve read. Also, ACC Constitution and Bylaws are not in the public domain (the SEC and Big10 proudly posts these items on their websites for all to see). These docs play a critical role in any future dissolution attempts. The ACC’s lack of transparency compared to its “peers” is a problem. It points to what we all know - the league is weak.

I can certainly understand the frustration regarding the ACC GOR. If any school has to stay until it expires in 2073, they will be far, far behind the B1G and SEC schools. The school presidents, or Boards, or both had to sign off on it. ESPN negotiated The terms in order to create the ACC network. The schools also negotiated to the extended grant of rights in order to get the network. In the ACC’s defense, tv rights have absolutely exploded the last 10 or so years. If the ACC was currently negotiating a tv deal to begin in 2024, what would be a fair value? I think it would certainly be more than the $31 mil the Big12 got. But I dont think it would be near B1G or SEC money. I ask because some posted a few days ago an article of the most watched teams in college football in 2022. Clemson was #10 and FSU was #15. The next highest ACC team was NC St at #43. 14 B1G teams and 14 SEC teams had more viewers than NC St. this includes USC, UCLA, Texas, and Oklahoma. The Big 12 had 5 teams above NcSt (but many of those were very close) and the new look Pac12 had 4 teams. I know viewership can change quite a bit year to year, but that is the reality of TV networks.
