I was in Birmingham Ala. on a business trip this week.

Oct 11, 2013, 1:43 PM

On the way home we stopped to gas up for the long trip home. A guy wearing his crimson tide shirt noticed our S.C. tags and told us that he liked the gamecocks too. I fairly hollered at the guy; that we didn't, that we were Tigers. He said that he really didn't know a lot about Clemson. I told him that come January, everyone was going to know about Clemson.

I live in North Alabama and most Bama and Auburn fans are very aware of Clemson and the program. Bama fans like us because of the coaching connection and how we beat up on Auburn. I think the Auburn fans have more respect for us after the last two years and how we gave them a tremendous scare (that was a terrible trip) in their stadium.

I lived in Huntsville for 2 years (the same 2 years we had the home and home with Auburn).

Honestly I found the Auburn fans to be well informed of Clemson. They knew what the Paw was, and respected us as a program.

It probably goes along the lines of what you said: we played them and played at their level. I found most Bama fans are aware of Clemson, but the only reason I could give them for ignoring us in years past is the miserable game we played against them in the Dome in 2008.

I see more and more Bama fans rooting for our opposition. I think they are afraid of Clemson and would rather us lose a game so they won't have to face us. They used to talk all kinds of crap about Bama and never about anyone else. Now they have been talking about Syracuse, FSU, GT, and USuC. GO Tigers, Bama is worried that we take it from them. We owe them payback for the loss to start the beginning of 2008.

I live in B'ham, and folks here know exactly who CLEMSON is. Dabo is a former Bama player on a NC team. Dabo lived in Pelham, a suburb of B'ham. They know Dabo very well and support everything he's doing. Dabo still spends his holidays in Pelham, and attends church with some of my co-workers when in town.

Not sure who you met. :)

who Clemson was, just this particular guy. I also met two folks in Birmingham who could have cared less who won the last auburn, alabama game. which I found really surprising.
