I was feeling positive about the Cheese Bowl

Coming off another coot-thumping, no opt-outs, generally a positive trajectory. Then I made the mistake of cueing up the UCONN game. From giving up the opening kickoff TD to being taken to 4th down time after time by one of the worst teams in the country… that’s just embarrassing. That’s a team with ZERO leadership on the field. We went on to shut our their offense and we had a decent second quarter, but overall that was an embarrassing performance. My overall takeaway was that the team looked absolutely rudderless on offense. Again, no leadership, no vision, no swagger. Those guys on offense looked like they hadn’t received much, if any coaching since high school. There is no excuse for that. No way to rationalize that away. It all starts at the QB position.

So you decided the UCONN game was the thermometer for our season. Not the whipping of Wake Forest or the killing of So Car. Interesting.

It was the tenth game of the season

And even with the injuries, the performance was an embarrassment. A team capable of the beat downs we delivered in weeks 11 and 12 should have hung a hundred on that pathetic UCONN outfit.
At the very least it was an example of poor preparation and poor motivation on the part of a team that should have been ready to thrash a team like UCONN out of sheer frustration alone. Fourteen second-half points is, well… pathetic.
We seemed to finally get on track against Wake and the coots. I just hope that with all the new parts in the machine, we manage to get the team focused and ready to play emotionally. And I hope that DJs boo boo on his knee is better and we see some semblance of leadership out of him on the field.

Did you forget all the injuries, and on top of that more injuries? Toward the end of the season, hurt players began to heal and return to the lineup.

A team that is comparable to playing Presbyterian or Elon?
Our reserves should have been capable and motivated to absolutely THRASH that UCONN outfit.

I suggest you replay the WF and USuc games again, and see the improvement, and maybe you can get your license back?

Iowa State is a tougher team and match up, especially for our offense. They’re well coached and will stack the line and dare us to pass vertically. Bubble screens and runs up the middle 90% of the time will not beat this team. Hopefully our D can get turnovers.

Go back and watch the UCONN game again. If you really think that was a good performance in GAME TEN of the season, then refute my statements. Otherwise, why don’t you just refrain from your useless posts that add nothing of substance.

We'll I can tell you this, Dabo said he chooses to look through the windshield at things coming toward him and not in the rearview mirror at things behind him. You just got to focus; focus; focus; concentrate and focus on what's ahead.

For not getting up for a match with UConn. I was at that game and thought that the Tigers played pretty well.
When was the last game that you attended?

until I saw those that awful team pushing our offense to 4th down time after time.
Those same coaches have had offers and chances to bolt for several years. This year they made the jump. Venables waited until he got the ultimate offer, one he really couldn’t refuse unless he wanted to be another Mickey Andrews. I believed that was a good possibility, actually… because Brent does the DC job so well. I truly do not believe that $$ was the primary motivation for him. As for Tony Elliott, well… we saw what his offense looks like when you DON’T have a #4 or a #16 out there. UVA is a decent job I guess… not a marquee destination by any means. We’ll see how long he lasts there.
Whatever the case, they both decided THIS WAS THE YEAR to get out after being at Clemson for years. Dabo has a big challenge ahead, maybe the biggest of his career.

You can't forget we will have different energy for the bowl game. New coordinators who "I am sure" will want to make a statement early about their capabilities will be at the helm. I think we look and play different(better) against the Cyclones!

I hope that we’re both prepared schematically and motivated emotionally to take care of a team that we would have blasted in any of the last 5-6 years. Most of all I want to see our offense show some real confidence if we have to open up the playbook beyond bubble screens and running into an OL’s a$$ in the A gap.

You’re both just alike. You criticize others for their views while having absolutely none of your own.
Maybe you and 1965 Tiger can meet up and take long showers together.

Our coaching staff learned in the last two games to play to our strengths. That means lean on the run game. I believe they will continue to do that. Also, I believe the defense will be pumped to play with a new(ish) scheme. I really think we dominate this game. Hope I’m right.

Agree 100%. Need some good momentum going into next year after a somewhat disappointing year. Crazy that we’re calling a potential 10 win season a down year, but that’s the price of success I guess. I’m grateful we are in that position.
Go Tigers

This 2021 team is a team that played when it was motivated which was not often in terms of coaching, leadership or spirit on Offense.
South Carolina win was a wind change. Hopefully, that continues versus ISU. From listening to Skalski and DC's, I have no doubt the Clemson D will bring it. What will the O do? More ground and pound IMHO.
Btw, appreciate your insights FT. Again, I like our team psyche headed into this game unless O implodes.
