I don’t think experience has anything to do with it. I just don’t think they gel well together. Lincoln was coaching in a national championship. Allen was coaching in the semis last season. Mike Reed has been around for ever a couple of national titles. Same as Matt Luke won a national title. The staff has won on the biggest levels. We have some inexperienced position coaches too. But just feels like it’s not gelling.

The offense did their job today. The defense let GT score the winning possession.
Players need to perform as they’re taught. They didn’t.
The staff has decades of winning football behind them.
Who do you think needs to be fired, why, and how have any of them cost us a game.
Cade game 1. He knows how he’s supposed to play and has been coached to do so.
Defense down the stretch game 3. They also know their assignments but failed down the stretch.
So how would a different staff have changed either of those scenarios? Who are your weak links and why? How have they cost us either of these losses?

The defense held up ok.the offense put the team in terrible situations.as said cade fumbled early,gt point, missed a fg,cade threw the pick down by goalline.d played ok.it was not there fault.should have never been in that situation if not for offense mistakes

There was exactly 5 minutes, 10 seconds difference in the time of possession during the whole game. So, no we were having good drives, not enough difference for our guys to be any more gassed than theirs.

In the end yes, but the defense held GT for a long time and the offense couldn't do anything to get points. It's an offensive game if we cant score in tbe 30's each week we are aren't winning many games. Look at Georgia/Tennessee. The offenses were electric. We cannot stretch the field, we play in a 20 yd bubble, and our QB rarely looks beyond his 1st target.

Not sure I would say the offense did their job. Defense didn't finish, that is true. And they couldn't stop King when we knew he was running.
But, the offense fumbled and gave GT the ball at the 30, in FG range before they even snap. Can't blame that on defense when they responded to the fumble by not letting GT in the EZ.
Then special teams missed a FG, albeit a long one.
Finally, offense throws a pick going into the EZ. If you dont throw the pick, you can at least settle on a FG.
Any one of those mistakes doesnt happen, and its a different game at the end
Again, not defending the D ... but seems like there os enough blame to go around. Certainly dont agree the offense did its job.
Offense did some things right and did some things poorly, just like the D

But I would support change; I think this program could use some fresh ideas. Remember that old definition of insanity?
While moving on from Dabo would be rather extreme, I think a dramatic shakeup is in order…if not the head coach, most of the staff. But I want to see us trying to get better, and am just not seeing it right now.

We won the ACC what, most every year of the CFP?

And we made the top 12 in the country last year.
We are tied for 5th in wins since 2020. We have the longest streak of 9+ win seasons in the country.
So unless we make the national championship every year, we are a failure?
We’ve had QB issues since 2020. We had a bad defense last year and fired that guy for a proven coaching veteran.
You think replacing the entire staff is justified, really? How long have you been a fan of Clemson football?
Heck, even since 2020 we’ve been better than what we have been throughout history.
Yes, we need to do better right now. But it’s not justified or logical to fire everyone, only hoping to do better.

anyone in the country. Unless you’re taking about kicking guys off the team for unproven guys who quit their last team, then there’s no room for portal guys.
That and the portal has elevated no one above what they’ve been.
Neither of those things have the reason we haven’t made a run at the natty the last 4 seasons.
It’s a played out narrative my friend. We do NIL and there’s no room for a bevy of portal guys.

Who is available that would be an improvement over him? It’s easy to want to get rid of a coach, but when they have the resume Dabo has "just" being 1-2 is a pretty jump the gun reason to want to get rid of him.

Absolutely! He doesn’t have Boyd, Watson or Lawrence anymore to bail him out. He’s an average coach at best. I’ll add that Klubnik is not a first, second or even third round pick. Drafting him early is a huge mistake. Dabo Must Go! Let’s make t-shirts!

Agree. He has to be told to adapt and make it uncomfortable if he doesn't? Honestly I don't know how easy that is though. But for 11mm a year with product the last 5 years? Why would Neff worry about making him uncomfortable??

Neff was DRads assistant and was simply promoted into the job. He got an mba from Ga Tech in 2010 (ohhhh), spent one year at MTSU, then got a postion at Clemson. He’s been here ever since. He has zero real world relevant experience outside of Clemson. People on this board freak out about Dabo’s hires when they have considerably more training. With all the changes since 2020 it, at the very least, isn’t helpful to have an AD who is learning on the job and views Brownell and Swinney as buddies rather than employees.

Personally I wonder if Dabo can adapt. As of today, it looks like the game has passed him by. Why do I think that?
I've never seen an experienced Dabo team loaded with *4 and *5 star talent look this soft, and unmotivated. It's almost like in the era of NIL kids just aren't buying in to his message anymore.
Imagine that.

Interesting take that players are not buying into Dabo's message anymore. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I think it's more difficult to sell the TOP talent because they're attracted to NIL $$$.
Also, the transfer portal has created a quick escape-hatch for disgruntled players, and those who think they should be starters.
Both of these factors have hurt not only recruiting, but also "buy-in". What motivated Dabo's teams in 2015 isn't working in 2025.

I might start with hiring a GM that Dabo reports to and has authority over the roster mgmt. I think that would be within Neff’s authority to configure. Dabo could decide to get back to being a HC and appreciate less on his plate, or seek a new job. In this era the landscspe is headed towards that type of pro organization anyhow.

Not yet. Absolutely ditch Riley at oc as soon as humanly possible and bring in an oc that can adjust in game. Riley wont make adjustments quick enough. As for Dabo, I think he needs to rethink his approach because the heat under him ain't going nowhere but up.

Heck NO! Dabo is a CEO, not the play caller for either side or the ball. Dabo made what looked like great offseason moves by bringing an offensive coordinator who had just made it to the national championship and a defensive coordinator who went deep in the playoffs. Who could have anticipated this kind of a performance from both sides of the ball?
I think Riley has a short leash but Allan will get a few years.

We can't fire Dabo. We can't afford to pay the buyout. Maybe the thing to do is fire the idiot that gave him a 10 year contract and 115 mil. We're stuck with hardhead until 2031, like it or not. If you are a head coach that knows nothing about football you best have the best coaches money can buy making the Xs and Os decisions. We are no where near that. Heck we have 2 of his sons on staff and one sucking oxygen out of the locker room on a full ride.

No. I don’t want him gone. Although Clemson football is bigger than any single coach, I think Dabo needs to stay but change his ways. I’d like to see him get more players from the portal, rather than giving spots to former Daniel High players who have relatives on staff at Clemson.

I don’t want him gone in terms of a personality, but he’s been steering us into irrelevance for years now, and it’s time for a change. Everyone talking about what changes are needed fail to realize that Dabo has overseen all of those missteps. He is the root of it now

Today was the first time I thought it might be time. He did an amazing job getting nattys, but I think the game has passed him by. Total whiff on the portal. Recruiting has been on the down slide since the 2018 championship. The offense philosophy cannot compete in 2025. It won’t be easy to replace him and people may not like how ugly it will get when he leaves. Its not easy to be at the top of the sport and they don’t have the money to outspend the Texas schools

That's stupid. We had Tony Elliott. He sucked as OC so pushed him out. Streeter sucked as OC so we pushed him out. Now we have Riley, who was considered the best OC in football before we hired him. And across all of them, our offense has looked the same. We've seen Dabo with his waffle house menu. And Dabo has specifically said he had no intention of letting Riley run his offense, but Riley would have to run the "Clemson offense." Finally, we know Dabo didn't let Riley clean house and is forcing him to use an offensive staff of Dabo's children and unqualified friends who wouldn't get a job coaching at Furman.
How much more evidence do you need?

I made it clear in the thread earlier today. I think Dabo has done great things for Clemson. That said, I believe you have to earn your paycheck every year. He doesn't get to make $12 million forever because of success a decade ago. I want him to get a massive paycut and to use that money on NIL. If he doesn't like it, he needs to go.

If he doesn’t do what we all know is necessary, I think he needs to go next year. It’s the worst year possible to fire a coach. As unnerved as I am, he deserves a chance to fire the coaches and portal the players in.
If he can’t, fire his A$$ to the moon and bring in a guy that wants to be serious about winning championships. It’s all here for the taking. At Clemson.

No, but I'm getting close.
The program has really been on decline the last few years, but we've still managed good seasons (playoff, ACC championships, etc.). I thought the hire of Tom Allen was a good move towards addressing the defense (instead of promoting from within, etc.). Who knows how that hire will eventually turn out.
But major changes have to be made after this year, and if they are not, I think I'll be ready to move on.
