why would it be good for us we cant supply our own country much less others. I will admit now the keystone pipeline will now be built and you can forget about military cuts.

I am not debating the intelligence of Putin or Obama. But at some point you are going to have to concede that ######## in the sand box is poor foreign policy.(on Putins part) what would be your solution to this?

We need England, France and Germany to destroy the Russian ruble. Which we could do if the keystone pipeline was already up and running. Russia relies heavily on the German currency but Germany relies heavily on Russian oil. So I would go to Canada to supply western Europe while the ruble crashes in exchange for building the keystone pipeline and becoming #1 supplier of American oil.

I do not think the outcome would be that dire, nor Putin that stupid.
I also understand that the Tar sand in Alberta is not really that much oil in the broader picture.
My point is that if Obama is in a position to sit back and let this play out, then he is the one playing chess.

Putin is not stupid but he does want Russia back in the middle of world powers. According to OPEC Canada is 3rd in the world in oil reserves http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves. How can Obama play chess when he is not even sitting at the table.

Obama does not have a seat at the table? lol.
You have to look at it this way, it is no longer about winners and losers, and more so about accepting our fate as part of a global economy.
The cold war perspective has its charm, but as you pointed out, leaders can deal a far harsher blow by disrupting finance than posturing with Nukes.
I say let the chips fall as they may and find better ways to invest the dollar than finding excuses to start another war.

If your seat at the table is to talk and not act then you might as well leave. It's been about winners and losers since the beginning of man kind. I have said nothing about attacking Russia with our military or nukes cant use that threat now any how after Obama's bluff failed on Syria. Let the chips fall where Germany has no choice to side with Russia because their energy needs this whole episodes could restructure word alliances.

you and I have no idea what 'talk" goes on behind closed doors. We can claim allegiance to our favorite pundits, but they are in the discussion for the money and nothing else. Don't trust them.
Having said that, the discussion should be about how currency divides resources. Nobody on the world stage is as stupid as you suggested.
I am done with platitudes. You and I have spent the last hour arguing over our favorite flavor of ice cream, when we both like the same things. Open your eyes and your soul, currency is the problem.
