Would much rather have an out of conference game against a new legit opponent as opposed to another ACC game at California or at Duke.
The issue with watering down the conference with irrelevant football programs is there is zero positives with playing more conference games.
Say good bye to playing other SEC teams or potentially a Big Ten matchup now with this change.
Tough sell to fans to continue to raise ticket prices when the schedule gets less attractive

Dunno outlaw. It's either give that up or not play an in-state fcs game... either way that blows. Means too much to the smaller schools.
ACC leadership - if it ain't broke, break it. Smh

Awful news, I hope we are the one that only plays 8 confrence games.
This ruins our OOC scheduling with Scar/ND + OU/UGA in the future.
All joking aside about how bad we've been this year I want bigger matchups and better away trips. Another trip out to Berkley or Boston doesn't move the needle for me at ALL and I hope we leave this sinking ship sooner rather than later.
This conference with "elite" institutions couldn't make the math work so they threw up their hands and said "eh one of yall will only play 8 conference games" I hope that special somebody is us to keep the good OOC games.
We HAVE to turn this ship around quick because we cannot be left behind on the short bus that is the ACC.

So ND would have to be counted as our 9th conference game right?. Really seems like that would put us a disadvantage.

Ross Delinger tweeted one ACC school will play 8 to make the math work. Wonder if that is us since we are locked into SC and ND now?

How are you going to count the ACC standings toward the ACCCG if some teams play 8 and other 9? What am I missing here?

ACC once again tells clemson to suck it.

Clemson has vehemently apposed a 9 game conference schedule for years. Our schedule model has basically been set in stone for a couple of decades. With SC as one of our games each year, we now have two weeks to schedule any other two out of conference opponents. We already added the ND game. I'd rather play an LSU (or Michigan, or BYU or whoever) rather than Syracuse, Duke, or Stanford. I can about guarantee we keep the FCS in state school so kiss games goodbye with UGA, Texas A&M, or WVU.
The whole college football business has been flipped on its head. it ain't like it used to be. each small forfeit from what makes college football so great is being chipped away little by little.

it could be anyone. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Oregon State, Nebraska, Army West Point, or any number of other schools. My point was we lose flexibility in scheduling when we can only schedule 3 out of conference games as opposed to four. Rivals in the same conference benefit, because they have an extra game out of conference.
Also, just feel like Clemson/FSU are the flag bearers for the ACC (this year not withstanding), seems with FSU, GT, Louisville, and Clemson should be the schools that the ACC should cater for. We've always been on the outs with the conference, and they have not done us any favors.

Well it won’t matter much after 2030 anyways, I’d imagine we’re the ones with at least some of the exemptions

What's the problem? The BIG 10, SEC, and Big 12 are already doing it...
That would be all the Power 4. Seems like a must if you want to be a power 4.

All for this move as long as it means we get rid of a cupcake every year while keeping SCAR & ND. It does bum me out that Georgia and OU are likely getting canceled, but I’ll take this new setup vs two home cupcakes.

The issue with ditching the cupcakes is that it likely means losing a home game every other year. Personally I think it’s worth it, but I know there’s a lot of implications to losing one even if it’s only every other year

I dont wanna play another crappy ACC school. Man our schedule is already charmin soft as it is. Lose those UGA and LSU games and our schedule will be a laughing stock. Of course if we're not going to actually BEAT them...

I don't understand the issue here. We replace a Furman or Troy with a Miami for example. Why do we feel we will lose a Georgia game? There are 12 games per season.

True, but SOS matters even more especially given the weak ACC perception. We have always scheduled a tough SEC opponent. We wouldn't do ourselves a favor to give up a Georgia/LSU/SEC game for a cupcake.
BUT, would an SEC opponent for example be OK with scheduling a game with us since they are going to 9 conference games? Since their conference schedule already already speaks for their resume themselves i guess. Maybe we have Big12 games in the future, I don't know...

The ACC is delusional, they view an ACC conference opponent to be equal to playing a team from the Big 10 or SEC. Can’t wait to get out of this joke of a conference

Who’s to say we won’t be in the SEC in the next two or three years anyway? I don’t see us staying in ACC till 2030 regardless of the amount of the buyout.

Notre Dame plays 5 or 6 ACC teams every season.
One ACC team plays 8 ACC games
The rest of the ACC plays 9 ACC game.
The two teams with the best winning percentage should match up in the ACC-CG
