just him trying to distract the Coots from the fact that they have accomplished NOTHING outside of the rivalry during their golden years.

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain... as long as we beat Clemson."

Also, how 'bout them BBall Tigers!! Great win! We may have a Tourney Team this year, something NO ONE was expecting!!

Spurrier is distracting his alumni from the fact that they failed to win the SEC and national championship that they have been expecting. Top 4 finish is great, (don't get me wrong) but they still have no (earned) hardware. So he talks about the 5 wins and top 10 finishes instead. I doubt they'll finish as high next season. It should be fun to watch their alumni next year. It's already started with their basketball program this year...

to start championing SC as a SEC superpower (not just spitting Lou)? Bama, UGA, FL, LSU, and a few others have been on their darling list; but SC never has as a team (Clown was as a player).

If not, I think the OP has it nailed.
