Why would we want Alabama?

Seriously. If you think that's anything other than a serve beatdown, you're crazy. If not for a fluke play, they are undefeated. It will not be a repeat of last year. Saban ain't Les Miles. He'll try to prove a point. Believe that.

night then the team in 2012 just needing a #### 3rd down stop. And we looked better than in 2011 and 2010. So . . . I would say, though it does not show on the scoreboard we have improved.
Even the die-hard radio Coots here in Cooterville said Clemson's D was legit and had improved from last year.

How else could we expect our rookie HC and OC to learn? I'm not taking a stab at either. I wouldn't swap them for anybody in the country. The better coaches either have character flaws, too old to last more than a few years or both.

A fluke play away?

You assume that after having played to a tie for 59:59 of game time that Bama would automatically win in overtime with their terrible fg kicking?
You mean like he tried to prove a point when Utah beat Bama 30-0 in a BCS bowl after Bama dropped the SEC championship game that knocked them out of the national title?

If you want to be one of the big boys, then you gotta prove it by playing toe to toe with the big boys and beating them AT LEAST as often as you get beat. So yeah, if we want to really be what we hoped we were before the FSU game, we need this kind of chance to prove it.
That said, I agree that Saban is a much better coach than Miles, and Alabama is a better team than the LSU team we beat last year. We have to play the best we've played during the Dabo era to have a chance to win. If we come out shaky and making dumb mistakes, it could get ugly. And we DON'T need that again. Losing like that would be worse than not playing them at all. It would cement the idea in a lot of peoples' minds that Clemson football is a fraud. I don't think even "Ten-win Dabo" can afford that.

over too much. If not for the turnovers(and the off-sides) we would have worn their defense out eventually. It was about to happen but they went for it on their own 35 and we jumped.
Plus, their quarterback can't beat us with his legs. We can attack, attack, attack on defense.

Playing Alabama would present a great opportunity.
However, based on what I've seen… this Clemson team would likely struggle offensively. I think Boyd would be hurried and McDowell would get stuffed.
I think they would have a better chance of success against a team like Oregon, but I'll enjoy whoever they play.

we don't turn the #### ball over, have some leadership who gets in each other's faces and tells each other that losing ain't happening today. We stop the turnover issue, get some upperclassmen Type "A"'s getting some playing time, we'd go toe to toe with anyone. We haven't had Jeff Davis, Keith Adams, Jeff Bryant, Levon Kirkland, Dwayne Allen, etc., type personalities (in bulk) on the team consistently in years and it hurts us when we get behind and play sloppy early in games. Those are the glue guys who will refuse to lose even when the wheels come off. You need those types on defense in particular, i don't care what anyone says. The deer in the headlights of some of our upperclassmen when it was 14-0 FSU is what makes some of our fans think that we can't beat a Bama. I'd love to have seen Keith Adams still wearing a Paw on that sidelines in the first quarter....nobody on the team would have had deer in the headlights, i assure you.

you want to build attitude and swagger and a belief mindset in your players? Play anyone, anytime, period. Let them get hit by the Bama's of the world and compete....Once they weather the first quarter storm and realize that they are a tough football team with talent, but they groan too when they get their mouthpieces knocked out you end up with a team that believes. You do it every chance you get, you build belief over the long haul. We NEED to play them, in fact.

If Auburn wins but doesn't jump Ohio State in the polls, I think the Sugar would seriously consider an Auburn/Alabama rematch.

- They don't have a running QB - They haven't done very well defending the pass this year - Clemson's shut down every big time RB except Gurley this year (FSU's tailbacks, BC's A. Williams, and SCar M. Davis all got nothing) - Dabo has a pretty good record vs the SEC when he's had a month or more to prepare
It's definitely a winnable game.
