I rewatched 4th and 16 game yesterday

Even though I have watched the game several times I had not watched it in over a year. What almost shocked me was the combination of Tajh Boyd and our WRs. Tajh put the ball on the money so many times in that game it was uncanny.
Now that he's allowed to coach on the field, I hope he can teach some of that long-ball touch to Cade.

Maybe we would have won in ‘17, but I was at that Sugar Bowl and the Clemson tackles had no answer for the bammer DE’s and DT’s. Maybe Boyd would have been more elusive than Bryant, but any QB taking snaps for Clemson would have been running for his life all night.

No doubt. QB was all we lacked that year. We had the best D in the nation by far. Bama had no offense that year. Georgia was good but not national champ great. It was a down year across the board offensively that season except for baker and Oklahoma but they had no defense. Blew it against Georgia in the semis

It's amazing how quickly he got rid of the ball - but then, WRs getting a good release and getting space had a lot to do with his opportunity to get rid of it in a hurry.

After losing Sammy it was like we were guaranteed left for dead. All the vicious shots Tahj took from those LSU hitmen for hire....I figured he would numb up and not finish that game.
The turning point of Clemson was the surgence of Malicaih Goodman at defensive end. I think the **fed up light** went off in him ....and next thing you know he was terrorizing that LSU quarterback. That surgence brought out the original bring your own guts in Tahj and Nuk.
That made us the SEC killing threat we were destined to be.

throwing the deep ball. Its a little better under Cade but was non existent under DJ and he was supposed to have the strongest arm in the NCAA.

When reading CK's scouting report he already possesses a gift for ball placement and the ability to make all the throws.
That's the reason he won the elite 11 QB competition
Cade's worst attribute lies in his tendency to improv instead of taking what the defense gives him or simply throw the ball away and live to play another down.
Having to punt the ball away is part of the game and with our defense oftentimes it's the best option. Stop forcing something to happen when there is nothing there.

Exactly!
No, I am not a quarterback … but … taking what the defense is giving is something I love to see … anytime, anywhere.
I, 2, 3, Throw. If you have no target, throw it away.

What amazed me was Tajh's toughness and the brutal hits he took all game and still got the yards he needed.

So said Les Miles in his post game interview. I would take another Tajh Boyd any day!

That and the fact that Nuk was unstoppable that day. All of that Sunday talent in the LSU defense had no answer for Hopkins!

And he missed seeing the open man for much more than 16 yards

I think it was Grisham that was wide open from the slot at the top of the screen. He might have gone all the way, only had a very deep safety to beat.

It was exciting and effective.
Now we go much slower and are not nearly as effective.

Yep LSU was sucking wind as many of their players and coaches admitted afterwards. LSU had some players, many recruited by Clemson, and it was going to take something different to beat them as LSU was better on both lines of scrimmage. Les Miles could get talent but was a bit of a moran on game days .
