practice hadn't even started, no spring game yet / half a year from pre-season practice, do the suspensions seem too heavy? Seems like there is plenty of important preparartion time to punish them. What did they do?
I was thinking that actual "future game suspensions" usually had more to do with something more legal-- ie. as players have had in the past.

May not be Dabo that suspended them

Could be something automatic from the school.

how would the school punish them right away? it is by all indications an automatic school suspension for a failed drug test. dabo said no arrest or legal problems. I am sure if it was academic, he would have said it was academic like he did with Bryant and others. not much else it could be. violation of team rules pretty much defines failed drug test. I have even heard that some tried to say dabo suspended them for not going to a basketball or baseball game he required all team members to do to show support for other teams. to me that dog will not hunt. no way dabo loses players over something like that for a game as important as Georgia.

I think you answered your own question.

You don't know the crime, so how can you question the punishment?
I have seen Coach Swinney do the right thing enough to just trust that he is doing the right thing.

You send a message to the team. This will affect these players throughout spring practice and into the fall. All of the other players will be reminded of what not to do. Keep control of your team and prepare the guys who will get to start over the next 6 months.

Seems that you are suggesting a Spurrier style suspension

which we both know is no suspension at all. I have 100% confidence in Dabo's judgement in his matter.

my quess is they had jamaican skunk weed in their urine stream, which is why 4 of them got hit at the same time. they're weren't necessarily together. drug tests are athletic dept. policies w/ penalties that include missing games, which is why they'd announce it so far in advance. missing classes, meeting, etc. and Dabo would have run their a$$ in the ground all summer with the threat of game suspension. it's not failing academics because they're still on the team and they haven't completed spring or summer semesters to rule on the fall. also, academics takes away your eligibility for the semester, not just a game.
