I remember all too well the 'Wander Years' after Danny left...

It's unlikely I'll live long enough to see another Phoenix rise from the ashes.

Think of ALL that Dabo has endured since '08 (which, by the way, this year has started off like):
1. Thrust into building trust on a flaming ship
2. An absurdly small initial recruiting class
3. Recruiting when the rules were clear; ethics, integrity and commitment (sorta) meant something
4. Incrementally making changes/adapting as needed
5. Winning ACC titles
6. Double-digit win seasons
7. CFP appearances and titles
8. The 'wild west' opening of the portal...college footballs' Oklahoma land rush! (Dabo wanted clarification)
9. Covid...yes everyone dealt with it...this is within the overall context here.
10.N.I.L....(Dabo wanted clarification...again)
11.Revenue sharing...(Dabo wanted clarification...again)

There isn't another coach since '08 who's had to navigate ALL of the above. None...zilch...nada...and ones who did for some of that period, finally threw up their hands on 10 and 11.

Dabo's ALWAYS followed his moral compass...he's not reactive, but he'll find a route he's comfortable with. Lose him and mark my words, you'll see no fewer than five coaches march through Clemson in the next 17 years...if the program isn't bankrupt by then. Reap...sow...be careful some of you. He loves Clemson...he doesn't NEED Clemson.

This is all true. But what it boils down to is are us as fans ok with being average until he leaves. Hes not going to make it back to the top in this landscape. If he was going to this was the year. If we keep him we are looking at a bunch of 8-4 seasons and maybe 1 or 2 better sprinkled in. And watching very boring football I might add unless he changes something. If we lose him it could go either way. 7-5,6-6 seasons OR it is possible that we could eventually get someone that gets us back to the top.

Were not average because of him. Except for the Danny Ford years, basically all we have all seen before Dabo was average or below average. Im not sure where everyone thinks the magic wand is or who would be carrying into town when they come...all assuming he leaves of course.

A lot of fools on Tnet think if Dabo left, Clemson would hire the greatest coach available . This coach would get 15 players out of the portal every year and only lose 1 or 2 games every year .

Reality would set in very quick and Clemson would be same level as Wf , NC State etc and watch the ACC championship every year on tv .

Also a lot of Coots on here stirring up all the negativity that they can and many are allowing it .

This program has never been equivalent to WF in its weakest years Garnet***

When I think we are having it bad right now, I just think of how sad it must be to be a coot fan. Nothing of any consequence accomplished, ever, as a FB program. Now, I will say their women's BB team is very good, but, so what? I'm glad girls have some sports opportunities, but those are a far cry from FB. When it comes to coots, I think of the perfect saying about them. "Never have so many done so little for so few with so much, so often." Some things never seem to change.

I would not say winning the ACC title almost every year is AVERAGE - GMAB

The whole league is envious of Clemson

Coach Dabo Swinney, along with Saban, was really Top of the Pops in his prime before the NIL / Portal era.

I've been there too and those days were not fun. Our only season saving game was beating the coots and that was a coin flip. I appreciate all these 10 win seasons and Championships because they do mean something and they are not easy to come by. Idk what is going to happen this year, but I hope we start putting it back together this week.....GO TIGERS!!!

Look the problem with kids and their expectations is the expectations are often unrealistic. Since we won the National Championship in 18, here is what we have done:

2019 14-1 ACC Champions, lost to a great LSU team in the Championship game
2020 10-2 Lost in the Sugar Bowl
2021 10-3 Won Cheez-It Bowl
2022 11-3 ACC Champions, lost in Orange Bowl
2023 9-4 Won Gator Bowl
2024 10-4 ACC Champions, lost in Playoffs

If that is bad, sign me and millions of fans across the nation up.
