That this was the biggest football game in NC States history. They really don't have much of a football history. It got me to thinking, that was no where near the biggest game Clemson has ever played in. Big game this year yes, but in our history probably not even top 40. Not counting playoff, ACC Championships or National championships, What are the biggest regular season games in Clemson's history?
UNC 1981? Georgia 1987? Notre Dame 2015?

Biggest away game may have been at Georgia in the opening game in 1982 which was between the last 2 National Champions.
We have had huge home games against North Carolina and Maryland back in the 70's and 80's and then against Florida State after they joined the conference. For me, the biggest and best was the Deshaun-Lamar classic and I don't care what the rankings were.

Florida State with Gallman and DW

Dalvin Cook took the 2nd snap 75 yards for a TD
I remember feeling like this was the game that was finally going to shift the momentum away from FL ST hold on the Atlantic
Felt huge for recruiting
Think it may have been the year we played Trubiskys Tarheels in CLT for our 1st of 6 ACC Champs
That game felt BIG to me

You're right. That game and season was HUGE. I'll look, but how'd your lady friend enjoy her first. Bet you glad you got tickets now!

2015, but it wasn’t the Trubisky fella. It was that 5 year running QB they had. I can’t remember his name. They were good, though. But, that FSU game in 2015 was a bellwether in my opinion. When Deion Cain took that pass and scored that TD to put Clemson up, it was literally like watching the corner finally be rounded, but when Gallman scored that last TD, it was one of the best feelings, as a Clemson fan, I’ve ever had.

'77 Uga is what got it all started.
'80 South Carolina led to '81
'81 Uga and UNC
'88 FSU
'15 Louisville
'15 ND
'08 Wake because of what it led to
Those are my knee-jerk thoughts

Bowden Bowl I should at least get honorable mention.

Not because of the records of the teams at the time of the game, but because of the historical significance and the hype surrounding it.
