It probably has more to do with them not wanting the other QB to transfer.

Reality is if they are truly having a QB competition and Brock Glen is ahead of DJ at this point they are in trouble. Glenn was horrible last season. It’s a far cry from how FSU fans have painted this situation. They claimed they had the best QB coach in the nation and that once he got his hands on DJ he would unlock that 5* potential. Good luck Noles.

I cannot shake the feeling that not only will we have our revenge on the Criminoles in Tallahassee this year , but that the hype machine around last year's FSU "return to prominence" is going to grind to a halt after this season.
They look like an 8-5 team without Jordan Travis.

When a team has a lot of staff turnover you hear statements like “this QB has had 3 different coordinators in 3 years. That’s really tough.”
Same thing here but instead if it being caused by staff turnover it is due to multiple transfers. Not only is it 3 different coordinators in 3 years, but also 3 different supporting casts. Even an elite QB might have trouble with this. And DJ has at times been very good and other times pretty average. But never elite unless you count high school. Will be interesting to see how this season goes for him.
