I know it is Monte Lee's first year and the season is not over but JL

Had a winning record in the ACC the past 7 seasons finishing 1st in 2010 and 2nd all but one season where Clemson finished 3rd in ACC. This is not a bring Jack back post it is a post requesting fans show patience and continue to attend games. If you don't want to go give your tickets to a fan that will or donate them to under privileged kids.
I think Monte Lee will accomplish some really good things at Clemson but give him some time. We have a couple of weak spots defensively. I am not going to call anybody out but those who watch the games know the positions.
I know it's hard for some of you to have a positive attitude. If you need to go see your physo analyst twice a week see if that will help. Lol
Tiger Baseball and Basketball needs our support and attendance.

nice of Jack to recruit Beer for Monte

on his way out;
might've been good to have left a Gossett or a Crownover
on the pitching staff
while he was at it.
When you're almost guaranteed that Friday win,
the overall record can only be so bad...

It doesn't matter if we had Bobby Cox as our head coach, without pitching nobody is going to win very much.

Agree with that. There are times when a coaching decision makes a big difference, other times not so much. Anybody could coach Beer. I think ML will built a great team for us......it just takes time.

I think Coach Lee said early on that pitching will be a concern for the season. But it takes time to put a new staff in place as well as build the recruiting base with high school coaches. Lets just keep the faith and good things will come.

Personally I like Monte Lee. He needs 3-4 years to get his players that he needs just to compete. It will take 5-6 years before we can do what everyone hopes we can do. I've actually enjoyed most of the season, and actually watch the games when possible. And I'm not even a huge baseball fan.

Yes, it stands to reason that a program with only 3 conference losing seasons in over a half century should put itself in a position to need 3-4 years to rebuild. The great dumbing down of expectations has begun!

I still think this team is going to put together a good run to close out the season. We have not done all that great in Conf the last 3 years finishing just around 500. I think we win 6 more ACC games this year and finish about the same.

That would be a marked, and somewhat improbable, turnaround from our current 2-7 streak. We're currently tied for 11th in the conference. 2 games out of 8th - necessary to make the tourney. FSU and NC State are 1st and 4th in conference standings. We're currently 2-10 against the Top 6 in the ACC. That does not bode well for those series.

The Miami and Lville series were on the road and except one game the Tigers battled pretty good. We can beat FSU and NCST at home, ND on the road worries me more. I believe after this weekend the team will play better from here on out. When it's all said and done this season will end with the Tigers going in the right direction.

The bottom line to me is with Jacks teams when they got behind it was over. Now with Lees team the same players this season they battle back. Give ML a few years and Clemson will be elite again.

When everyone was campaigning for Leggett to be fired it wasn't that we needed to be rebuilding - it was that we were supposed to be winning championships. Last year, in particular, our large number of errors were attributed directly to the coaching staff - by the anti-Leggett mob. This was frequently cited as a supposed demonstration of Leggett and his staff's incompetence. That any decent coach would quickly work the bugs out of this team and have us winning championships again. The whole argument against Leggett was predicated on the idea that Clemson has everything in place, all the time, to win at the highest level in baseball. That Leggett himself was the impediment. That he was a fraud who had benefited from the inherent greatness of Clemson baseball. That without him we would naturally rise back to some God given level of success.
But now, as Lee begins to struggle, the argument shifts. The coach can only do so much. It's a talent gap issue and Lee just needs time to get his people. So suddenly, a program that has been one of the most successful in the country for a half century is going into rebuilding mode. And I am very aware of how well Clemson "rebuilds" it's sports programs.

Just so I understand correctly:
1) Pay homage to Jack but you don't want him back (sorry for rhymes)
2) Don't stop attending games. (even though it looks like attendance has been good through the slump) *shouldn't be a drop off for the semiHoles if you are worried about that
3) And the reason for our slump is in fact defense and not starting pitching and lack of offense early in games.
Obey Maybe. Gotcha bud.

But don't forget - when we struggled with errors last year that was wholly attributable to failures by the coaching staff and would be easily corrected by even a moderately competent staff.

i wouldn't have fired Leggett in the first place. I would have committed resources to baseball when South Carolina dumped $30 million into their program. I would have given a proven winner an opportunity to fight on an even playing field. Instead now we've introduced instability into a baseball program far behind its closest rivals in resources. It isn't going to end well.

Hey look another poster who loved Jack Leggett more than Clemson.
And nothing that Viztiz the troll has said was true.
Only thing that has been said that is true is that the loser only shows up when Clemson loses.
