I knew they were bad...

But I didn't know they were this bad.
Normally I avoid Slate because it's out there with Salon for being a little too ardently leftie for my taste, but when you tee it up for them like these guys did, you're inviting them have a whack, and Oh My, did they ever.
It really is that bad with these freshman 'Pubs. Twenty years ago they would have been the guests on Jerry Springer. Now they're serving in Congress. What happened to the GOP?

Come on Quozz, you know the playbook. Fill our congress with the stupidest people possible, people with no moral compass, or in general vote how they are told to vote. That is how you get a really unpopular agenda forced through the house and senate, employ people too stupid to understand exactly what it is they are about to sign, and greedy enough not to ask any questions.

You mean like the $1.9 Trump tax cut that resulted in 83% of it going to the most wealth...when they didn't need it?

tax rate does not equal tax revenue, but that is a concept that you are probably completely incapable of understanding.

keep going after the first year the taxes were implemented

yes right after tax rates are decreased you might not have as much revenue but after a couple of years it is obvious that a strong economy raises more tax dollars.
The answer to increased tax revenue is increased economic output and making sure that everyone is part of the economic train.
FACT tax revenue increased Conjecture tax revenue would have increased even more if we had higher tax rates

The rich pay most of all taxes, therefore tax cuts benefit them most. Arguing that people that pay zero tax, didn’t get as much of a tax break is fkn stupid.

Bullsh!t. I'm guilty of plenty of sins, but one-sided leftism ain't one unless you're a Nazi. I dunno. Are you a Nazi?
As a rule I try to avoid linking to anything that slants further than center-left...or further right than center-right. (I smack people around for this on here all the time, and you're welcome to do that to me anytime I violate that rule myself because I think as a general rule of thumb it's a great rule to follow.) Basically, WaPo or New York Post or Guardian are left-center, or Wall Street Journal or Bulwark on the center-right, and journalistic credentials matter a lot to me. Publications that have bombed a lot of fact checks I won't link to.
Slate is further left than that, which I do not like, so ordinarily I won't link to their stuff. (Though they do have a "high" factuality level.) But the article is factually correct...and hilarious.

WSJ center-right?
Mar 13, 2021, 1:35 PM

When you take out opinion columns and focus on the reporting, I think most people would put them pretty close to the center. I enjoy the opinion columns, but it’s generally my favorite source because the reporting is so factual and generally free of loaded words.
I’d put the Examiner as much more of the yin to the WaPo’s yang than the WSJ.
A site I prefer to media bias is allsides.com. A lot more real-time and they offer multiple versions of stories by topic from the different sources.

WSJ does money, and money tends to lean right. Editorially, they're definitely right...keep in mind, they're also owned by the Murdochs and News Corp. It shows on occasion. I think people sometimes perceive that there's this giant puppetmaster conspiracy between ownership and media and there isn't, always, because I do think ownership is aware that to exert too much control is invariably to kill the golden goose. If you get a news agency that won't do news it becomes propaganda, and your top reporters simply won't be propagandists. They leave. It's their reps as journalists on the line, you know?
WSJ's reporters do a really good job, and again, I agree with you as far as the lack of leading headlines and biases. And sometimes it seemed like they were doing a better job busting up Trump than WaPo or NYT were, which was another way of saying: if they had something to nibble on, they were clearly given free reign to chase it.

GOP's belief is that Fed. Government is bad and incompetent

so they look to ensure that reality through the leaders they choose. Mix that with a culture war mentality, emotionally stunted base and you get the modern GOP party.
It started under Newt Gingrich then metastasized to the tea party which led to the freedom caucus and then (so far) ended with Trump. It's why so many true Conservatives have left the party and why this version of the GOP isn't going away anytime soon. It's foundational to the party now and rooting it out, while necessary, will be very destructive to the party as a whole.
It's scary in a country with a two-party system and so many (70+ million!) seem okay with the direction one of those parties is moving.

Trump: no new wars, less soldiers deployed since 9-11, low taxes, small businesses booming (pre covid), lowest unemployment ever (pre covid), a more secure border.
Oh, the humanity!!
