1980 Clemson /Carolina game. The audio from Clemson Network. Jim Phillips on the call and I was doing what was called "color". The job for people like me back in the day was to provide some comments and add a few points. I could have never have broken down plays like a former player or coach. The fact is, I liked the fact that it was Jim's show and he was free to describe it as he saw it. I would never have stepped on him while he was talking. Now a play by play guy has to make time for two or three other people. The main man should be the pbp guy. That is why Jim and others like him could paint a picture. Too much chatter these days.

And, most of it is just a biased opinion, rather than fact. It's like some of these people just have to have their voices noticed (like some of the "sideline reporters" we see each week, when so much of it adds nothing of value.

Williams casually mentioned during the interview Bella the TL look alike should enjoy her 15 minutes of fame. I really find it annoying calculated "look at me stuff"makes those who should not be famous well known.

Jim sure could paint a picture for sure! I can remember laying next to the old floor cabinet stereo in our living room and listening to him give play by play and you could vision it like you were there. I always liked,...15,10 ,5,..TOUCHDOWN !! or THE SNAP,..THE SPOT,...aannd his kick isss GOOD !!

ahh... I remember David Treadwell back in the day. Jim was the best - there's nothing like listening to a ball game (of any sort) om radio with announcers who know how to play the game. Heck, I even remember Red Barber... "the girders are shaking now!!!"
