culture.
The reality is that the new racetracks aren’t about geography and culture, they are about large sums of money and big races on TV.
People need to get over their outdated ideas.

Nothing known as a sport could take place behind the wheel of a car.

I'm sure that helps with recruiting the needed height of most drivers.

race car driving really comes down to free time, talent, and having access to a nascar. I bet there are a lot of undiscovered talents out there, the next Richard Petty could be in New Jersey with nothing but a funny car to practice on.

Best sport televised over Friday thru Sunday…soccer, NBA, etc. I don’t think so…college softball maybe…ACC baseball had to go find the game.
Like it or not the southern rednecks spend two week’s worth of pay to attend and enjoy. Ain’t nothing woke going on in Darlington!

they need nascar for revenue i agree the racing is junk now and has been for a while. nascar has done it to themselves with rules and more rules along with taking over every aspect of there sport including the car a nascar product with 3 different emblems.
the days of run what you brung are dead indeed. when nascar saw the $$$$$$$$ they could make at the exspence of the fans and manufactures.
its now just money and it shows in the lack of fans at most tracks.
but darlington still draws a damm good crowd and that town needs it.
go tigers!

It ended with some excitement but I admit I did not know in advance that the Darlington race was on TV. I watched the last 100 laps on one device and my Tigers on the other. 😊

There was nothing romantic about it but I was pretty jazzed when I saw the No. 1 car’s day come to an end.

They go in a straight line, and they are called funny because the entire body rotates off the chassis so the daredevil can get inside his coffin. The point being, we ALL are really hoping we will witness a crash, the form factor and region of the car are irrelevant.

and using your horn in traffic is considered a courtesy, not a reason to reach into your glove box. It is a way of expressing dominance in a risky driving maneuver at 80 mph, in case the other guy may have the stupids, and eye contact with your rival is tough from inside a vehicle, so you just assume it so as a precaution. Southerners will never get this.

I bought two tickets for $26 each two hours before the race. Very similar seats to what I paid $100 for a few years ago. My son and I enjoyed the race but it’s not the same. Race car drivers used to care only about winning and that created exciting races. Now a driver is fine finishing tenth because he needs points to make the playoffs. Thus, the races become boring for long stretches which is not a good thing.

I must admit, I have never watched a full car race on TV. I tried a few times but lost interest after a few minutes. I'm missing something but don't know what I am missing. Kind of like camping in an RV. You got A/C, kitchen appliances, TV, bedrooms, and outside awning so you can sit outside and watch people walk or drive by. You can do that at home. I'm missing something here too.
