Heupel's offenses perform great in the first quarter, then taper off throughout the game. This tells me that the opponent's defense figures them out rather quickly, coupled with Tennessee/UCF's defense tiring in the fourth quarter from all the hurry up activity.
I think he was more successful at UCF because the other teams had a hard time keeping up athletically, where the P5 teams have a lot more quality depth.
Just my two cents, but I don't think Heupel is much more than an above-average coach with some good gimmicks that work.
