If the BIG BUCKS come talking, most coaches would start walking. PSU is a much more likely job for the hottest coach in CFB.

I knew it was coming but felt they'd wait until the end of the year. The donors wanted him out after the Oregon game. To be fair, it's the 1-18 record against b1g top 10 teams. So, anyway, that's not apples to apples. And to answer your question, we actually DID do that to Bowden... which is a good comparison to Franklin.
The fire him now heat really got loud after ucla. But at that point, they were willing to give him to end of the year because technically, they still had a chance making the playoffs.
But after yesterday, and you just DON'T lose to northwestern... bought like us and cuse. Plus, they lost Allar on season ending injury.

CGA ..... I'm not a Franklin fan at all. I still remember what he swept under the rug when he left Vanderbilt. However, for the vast majority of those 17 games he lost to top 10 teams, he probably did not have the best roster in any or at least very few of them. Still you expect to win more than 1.

Biggest fall for the year. In total, we have dropped from dominant on a national scale to stunbling around mid pack in the lowly ACC. When the big drop off comes next year, the uneducated are going to be in for a shock. We have talent in most spots this year. Cupboard will be almost bare next year.

We have a few big gaps next year, but the team will still be very talented. CB, S, LB, DT, OL, TE, RB, WR, K - all will be talented. We need some immediate elite transfers at DE and QB especially. I wouldn’t mind a few others tho. We could use another couple LBs, an experienced center, and an elite senior RB.

I don’t know how I feel about this. Maybe he just lost the team. The UCLA game is kind of understandable. Sometimes one loss turns into 2 if you are not motivated. But 3 in a row. To lowly NW. At Home. His terrible record against good teams had taken on a life of its own. I guess it was time I think another B1G coach is on his way out. Fickell at Wisconsin is on a 4 game losing streakand sitting at 2-4. And just lost 37-0 to Iowa. That’s more points than Iowa has scored in all their games of the last 2 years combined. Wisconsins next 5 games are against Ohio State, Oregon, Washington, Indiana, and Illinois. At a combined record of 27-4. Thy could easily finish with 2 or maybe 3 wins.

Nope, but these Schools are just stupid! These buyouts are so high because as a whole the Schools have elevated tbe amounts. The AD' s need to hold a closed door meeting and decide on buyouts limitations as a group. These coaches (Dabo included) are getting pad way to much when tbey fail at the jobs they are paid to do! This is part of the reason why the NIL push for player pay was so big.

Yeah Coach Franklin is the one paying alright….lol
So they’re going to pay him 56m to not coach. They’re going to have to pay someone else that much to coach, assuming they want someone more elite.
And they better hope that guy is so much better that he can beat out Ohio state and Oregon.
Otherwise “doing what it takes to win” is just rich old dudes lighting money on fire.

Big business of today's universities. Boosters must have the control of this. Big time boosters should demand realistic termination terms. If it were standard at P5 schools that termination was 1 year salary plus benefits for 1 year post termination it would change things. But all schools have to fo it together. If they all did agents are a non-factor. Some say impossible, but if all schools fidelity it the coaches could take it or leave. An average of about 6.5- 8 million to go away isn't a bad gig??

..... are willing to offer guys the big contracts with guaranteed buyouts there will be coaches willing to take them.
Couple of examples I'm very familiar with.
1. Jimbo Fisher. He won 29 straight at FSU. Then he started flirting with other schools. His agent, Jimmy Sexton, managed to get two schools - LSU and aTm - into a bidding war. Everyone assumed he was going to LSU, but when aTm entered into the bidding war Sexton did a great job convincing aTm it was worth paying Jimbo a ridiculous salary with a 100% guaranteed buyout or he would go to LSU. aTm agreed.
2. Mike Norvell won 19 in a row at LSU. Nick Saban retired. Jimmy Sexton got FSU and Bama into a bidding war for his services. Sexton convinced FSU to pay him 10 million a year with a buyout that started at 70+ million bucks and decreased at 9 million per year or he would sign with Bama. FSU agreed.
Sexton didn't put a gun to the head of aTm or FSU. He did his job. Negotiated the best contract possible for his client. Huge contracts happen when two schools want the services of the same guy.

The knock on him was he could beat the teams he was supposed to beat but never beat the teams he wasn't supposed to beat.
This year, he started losing to teams he was supposed to beat. (23+ point favorite against UCLA) Fans were looking for something that would convince the administration to fire him. They were ready weeks ago.
