He probably doesn't want to windup like Vonta Bentley and sit on the bench behind a vastly inferior player like Jake Venables. I'm sure Kirby reminded him of this.

But it has some merit. And no doubt other coaches relevant in competing for recruits vs. Clemson will use this as ammo.
Dabo and B.V. have demonstrated their ability to compete and win on the field at the highest levels when Clemson has highly talented personnel on the field (i.e. Power Rangers, Isaiah Simmons, etc. etc.) With talented but slower and less athletic kids, there will be challenges against top competition regardless of how well these kids are coached. They have a ceiling.
IMHO both Dabo and B.V., as much as they have earned our love and respect, have a penchant for rewarding "kids who work hard and understand the system". Dabo and B.V. will bring in these benchwarmers who are "working hard" as early as the 1st qtr and empty out the bench in the 3rd qtr vs. vastly inferior ACC competition. There many times when much more talented younger players watch these less talented "hard-working guys" take their reps.
The equality and coaching reward system are factors which separate Clemson usually positively and sometimes negatively from being just another talent meat market like Bama and UGA. Coach Smart has offensive coaching limitations that circumvent UGA from winning the big one -- Bama under Saban's leadership clearly does not. But count on top-tier football schools including LSU and Ohio St to market and embellish any perceived Clemson negatives. That's how the game is played.

I take you don't know much about Todd Monken, UGA's offensive coordinator?

People like you will never understand Dabo. You can have 15 stars behind your name and if you do not understand the system or #uck off in practice you don't become a starter!!! On the other hand if you work your #ss off in practice and know the system you will get your share of playing time....This is what separates Clemson from other programs....!

Oh, I understand completely. What I know is that it doesn't matter how much of the system Jake Venables knows, if he doesn't have the athleticsm to carry out said system, it doesn't matter. Watch the ND and VT games last season, Venables is not power 5 material. Bentley looked much better than him in the games he played.
Stars absolutely matter.

Why would Clemson have "15 star" players on the roster who can't understand the system or "#ucks off" during practice? Wouldn't that be a failure in recruiting? A failure to coach and develop players?

Did you know that UGa's championship is closer in time to WWII than today?

A failure in recruiting would be being top 3 recruiting year in and year out and having 0 championships to show for it as well as 0 1st round draft picks from one of the best recruiting classes ever. That would be a failure in recruiting.

Imagine saying something like that to a fanbase of a team that has consistently gotten lower rated recruiting classes with substantially less recruits overall yet put more players into the league in the last decade. Nothing is more UGA arrogance than that.

Maybe. Coaches use all kinds of ploys to dissuade kids from a school. Frankly I don’t mind his comment about Alabama and Georgia coaches putting LBs in the league. The comment that bothered me was “in the end I’ve go to go with the truth”. What’s that all about? I assume he’s referring to us since it seems us and UGA were the most involved and it was really only us until a few weeks before he committed to dogs. Recruiting is just a cutthroat business I guess.

No question who is more Talented. However, Vonta had some Lateek Townsend to him during his first 2 years. In other words, if you do not understand enough of the Playbook to merit BV’s trust, then you will not play!
