Monday, I go under the knife yet again, back related surgery number 5. I say "related", because this time they are going to do fusion surgery on my right sacro-iliac joint. The version I chose, they will basically be mortise and tenoning the two joints together to fuse them into one. This will, in hope and theory at least, stop the excruciating pain I have been experiencing from that joint, running down my leg all the way under my right foot.

This is kind of a "port of last resort", as the last steroid shots I had there only worked for about three days, and then the irritation / pain from nerves getting rubbed came right back. Any of you with that type of pain know, even opioids don't touch it. I pray that the Lord will guide the surgeons hands, and it be His Will that I get some relief.

Also, my wife has another appointment with the cancer docs tomorrow. Hopefully, at long last, we will be getting her started on her radiation treatments, so that she can put cancer in her rear view mirror. Please keep her in your prayers as well. Lots going on in our household right now, and not much of it is pleasant, to say the least.

You will definitely be in my prayers, I have already been down that same road that you are on now. For me, with 5 surgeries counting the fusion. With me, after every surgery, it has caused more nerve problems that I can barely deal with on a daily basis. With you having chronic back problems, I don't have to tell you that nerve pain can be your biggest problem with the pain, and I do pray that God will be the leader of your surgins thoughts while he is attempting to help you!!!! God bless you 76er, and I do hope that you will be in better shape after your surgery.

I wouldn't wish what I have been left with on anybody bc, I hope that every night that I'm able to sleep, that I don't wake up for another day of pain that I live with everyday of my life, seriously. There are days that I wish that I had the courage to end this misery myself bc, it can, and does get to be unbearable. My best days are like most people's worst days of their life with pain.

I haven't slept in a bed in over 10 years for the fear of rolling over on my stomach while asleep, if that happens, I wake up in the worst pain ever, and I can't roll myself back over. I can't begin to say how many times I have woke up on my stomach screaming for my wife to roll me over on my back bc of the pain, it's absolutely impossible for me to roll myself over bc it increases what is already the worst pain I've ever felt in my life time!!!!
