Herschel Walker's Words

Herschel Walker's words [2]

flag Reply

So proud of Walker's words yesterday about those USA Olympians who wouldn't stand for the Anthem. I wish I had the choice of telling them where to go.

“People think I’m very harsh when I say this,” Walker told Fox News in an exclusive Friday interview. “This is the United States of America, and if people don’t like the rules here — and there’s no doubt we can make some things better — but if people don’t like the rules here, why are you here?”

He then questioned whether the Olympics is “the right place” for Americans to protest their country considering the presence of athletes from other countries “who would love to represent the United States of America” if given the chance.

Walker participated in the 1992 Olympics and called the experience “one of the proudest moments” of his life, “coming from South Georgia and representing the United States.”

“When I started seeing the United States flag and started seeing the people, the uniform, all my teammates from all different sports coming into that stadium — it almost brought a tear to my eye when I started thinking of where I grew up as a boy in my little hometown, and now having the chance to represent the United States of America,” Walker said. “I couldn’t have been more proud of anything.”

Olympian Gwen Berry is the most notable name who turned away from the American flag during the national anthem at U.S. Olympic trials last month.

“All of my brothers and sisters were White, but I was [more proud] than anything. I would’ve died for that group over in France if I had to,” Walker said of the USA bobsled team. “[They were] my family. … I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I grew up in South Georgia — never, never could have dreamed of anything like that.

Walker believes leaders within the sports industry need to speak up and encourage U.S. athletes to send the right message.

“It’s very sad to me because any other country… I can promise you… they would not be representing that country,” he said. “I totally disagree with it, but they have the right to do it, even though I think it’s wrong. We have to have leaders that… are going to stand up and say the right thing. You can feel a certain way and I think that’s great, but this is the United States Olympics. … I’m not sure that’s the time or place.”

What happened to you

Jul 27, 2021, 6:53 PM

Stick with humor.

1) Everything Herschel said is true

2) What he did or didn't do 40 years ago has no bearing. You wouldn't want what you said or did 40 years ago affecting your bearing. None of us would.

3) The Camaro was a pretty lousy car anyway. My mom had one, it was superficially stylish but that was about it. Weak engine, too small in the cabin, not a durable car either. So what if he got one. He grew up poor anyway.

Herschel is a class act and more of him are needed.

4) And back to 1) : everything he said is true.

that was humor snowflake. Possibly do not take everything so personally? And you do not get to tell me what I can and cannot post, as Hershell does not get to tell people where they should live. Both suggestions are VERY UN-American.

You know very well where good humor is wasted, young man.

It’s because you are 6’5 and harrier than my mom. That or something I’ve overlooked.

yup, when I step out of my ride in the middle of the freeway, you would be shocked to learn how quickly the road rage in the offending motorist subsides.

There is a good Florida Man headline in there somewhere.

Yup, there is a definite Florida man stereotype, and they are easy to spot. The funny thing is that you would think a lot of these people are poor white trash, but some of them are millionaires that live like Vegabonds off a settlement or some inheritance. Their natural habitat is tiki bars on the water and they mostly forage on bar food and alcohol. They love to tell howy they retired at foryt, which is when I respond, sorry for your loss.

naw, I work for a living. My boss's inlaws all have trust funds, got free houses, free everything. They are the real socialists. You have not lived untilyou have been browbeaten by a 22-year-old girl that has never worked a full day in her life, meanwhile you manage her stepdad's company.

Or, being publicly denigrated by a woman having narrowly escaped the tailer park at the age of 19 by $&@“:ing the married 55 year old owner because her sister, who worked for said recipient being denigrated, didn’t feel like showing up to work for 2 months. I still can’t believe they didn’t let me fire the twit… Its ok though because her brother Pee Wee will faaaght fur hut onore.

How many US athletes are actually not standing for the anthem or whatever?

Jul 27, 2021, 8:58 PM

I’ve been watching and all of our medal winners have been very happy and have stood on the podium. Like only a couple said they might on social media and it hasn’t happened yet.

People who aren’t watching think every athlete is snubbing the anthem or something when it’s simply not true.

Also we are still top of the medal charts so the idea that we are doing worse because of “woke” athletes is also inaccurate.

His whole rant is steeped in dishonesty. Yes, Megan Rapinoe did kneel for the anthem back in 2017 but every member of the women’s soccer team stood for the anthem in the 2021 Olympics. Walker needs to pull his panties out of his crack, quit fighting in brainwashed culture wars, enjoy the game, and cheer on his country.

Unfortunately people seem to view their political alignment as their most important character trait and they let it sour everything.
