Definitely think we have a legit shot at losing Bresee and possibly Simpson. Could also see the trio from IMG as well as Kanak decomitting.

the loss of Venables is major, the loss of TE not so much but still rough.But I'm sure Dabo has had a plan for some time. There will probably be some who jump ship but we have other coaches who have close relationships with their players.The class coming in should be more slippery. I trust Dabo to hold it all together. The culture at Clemson is unlike any other in college. I think kids come here for more than just football. We've heard it from all different angles. TRUST DABO!!!!!!

Dabo and Brent are close, and I’m sure there’s an agreement to not go after any current players, commits, and possibly guys he’s recruited for Clemson. I would assume it’s the type of agreement that doesn’t need to be said due to the respect they have for each other.

You must be new to competitive Football. BV has one job and one job only now, and that's to win at Oklahoma. I can without a doubt guarantee that some of his first calls will be to some of the recruits he's been on the trail with.

Typically, when a coach leaves, they don’t recruit commits from their previous school. They may or may not reach out to kids that hadn’t committed, but I would think that with the respect between the two, BV wouldn’t go after any of the guys he previously recruited. Hell most likely go after guys on the Oklahoma recruiting board since those are guys the staff that’s left are familiar with.

The insta-portal and NIL have changed all that. I hope you are right and BV won't poach, but my fear is there is a Jerry-McGuire-style telephone race to reach all commits and current defensive players by both coaches and their staffs.

The hint of all that is the use of the word portal....any current players would have to hit the portal first before Brent would look their way...and even with that, he'd have to go after them, or they hit it to possibly not get taken at OU.

Do you seriously think all of these Clemson starters (or backups for that matter) are just going to up and leave their home at Clemson University because a coach departed for a job promotion? Are you as a fan going to drop Clemson and start cheering for OU now? If not then why in the heck do you think Clemson players are going to stop wanting to play at Clemson because one of our coaches is leaving?
Newsflash - these athletes came to Clemson not Venables University. They wanted to be a part of Clemson's family and culture and are bonded with their fellow teammates at Clemson. They aren't about to jump on a plane to Norman, OK, and turn their backs on all their fellow Tigers to join a program they know nothing about, have no links too, and have never visited.
So, take a deep breath and repeat after me.... everything is OK, the sky is not falling, Clemson's culture is built to last even with the loss of an outstanding DC.

I mean nobody said "All of Clemson's starters". I do 100% believe that we will lose at minimum 1 current starter to Oklahoma as well as 2-3 recruits.

Take the Orange glasses off and step back for a minute. Some players commit to playing for a coach. See all of the players that hit the portal at Oklahoma for example. No, I don't think the sky is falling, but I'm also not gonna act like it's all Roses right now. I think Dabo promotes Bates to play a bit of Damage control.

coaches and if they tranfer, they want have BV as a position or DC - it will be someone else. We may lose 1 or 2 but that's it and it might not be to OU but just entering the portal because he is not longer here. Not really concerned.

I would think one of the worst things you could do to the locker room as a new head coach is to bring in a bunch of outsiders and foment resentment. He has to build what he wants OUs culture to be organically - not transplant several guys. That will start with his recruiting class. I’m sure OU can draw pretty good players equal to the ones we have committed.

I thought so too, but looking at the Twitter accounts there is legitimate concern at this point.
This may be the straw that breaks the camels back for me with CFB unfortunately.
If we get lose 3-5 good players or recruits I will be disgusted. This would not have been an issue pre-portal.
