How Many of You Have Been Chunked into the Reflection Pond?

Apr 4, 2022, 9:26 AM

That was a big thing back in the early 80's. I made it a point never to go anywhere near the reflection pond anywhere close to my birthday or other occasion.
I did assist in chunking in a few, but only one was chunked into the green slimy part right under the library bridge. With the fight he put up, he deserved it.

I chunked one of my roommates in it 1981, then I ran as fast as I could, he caught me because its hard to run fast in a fit of laughter. He took both of my shoes and went back to the pond and threw them out in the middle. I had to do the wade of shame to get them. Good times!

Fr year, 72-73. Lots of guys were getting engaged to be married and their friends would throw them in the library pool. i made the unfortunate remark that there weren't enough of them to throw me in. and i was WRONG. they ambushed me coming back from the red carpet one night and carried me to the pool... where they proceeded to take all my clothes and throw me in. i had to walk back from the pool to johnstone buck naked.

No pond. But, I have been thrown into a holly bush. It hurt more getting out than it did going in.

It was my fraternity's tradition, back in the late 70's, that if you gave your frat "pin" to your girlfriend that you got thrown into the library reflection pond. I made the mistake of giving my girlfriend my pin during Christmas break and then announced it at our first frat meeting back in January.

Very cold night, probably in the 30's, when I got thrown in. Thought I was going to freeze to death. Luckily one of my "brothers" took his coat off and gave it to me to wear back to the dorm.

All was not lost, however. I later married that sane girl and we will be celebrating our 41st anniversary this summer!!

In the early 1970s after the Thursday pep rally in the amphitheater there would be a few thrown in the water. I managed to escape, but helped throw in some buddies.

Starting in 1969, we used to jump in the Reflecting Pool after Pep Rallys. We were allowed to throw the Male Cheerleaders in but not the Female Cheerleaders. After this little swim, we would go on Panty Raids. With a ratio of 4.9 males to every Female on campus, it was a good way to blow off steam.

Remember the panty raids well. Always amazed how many came floating down. Especially the 4X ones that looked like parachutes.

Never got chunked in it, but seem to have a VERY hazy
