How is Virginia 5-1 in the ACC???

They have lost to NC State and Wake Forest but when you look up the ACC standings it shows them as 5-1. What am I missing here?

Because NC St was not a conference game..
They scheduled it outside the conference

They chose to play NC State instead of some group of 5 team. Wasn't a conference game.

They played a G5 school in Coastal Carolina. NC State and Virginia as rivals just wanted to schedule one another non con just like Wake and UNC have in the past. Didn't really have anything to do with avoiding a G5 game.

One of the games was an optional game so it does not count in the ACC standings. As an example, we could have chosen to play Miami, Pitt or UVA instead of a crappy scrimmage against FU and it would not have counted in the standings. IMO, we need 9 conference games plus two games OOC in the G4 and one in the G5. There is no benefit for Clemson to play a SoCon game (I really like the SoCon as two of my children are FU grads but not for football). We can have a end of spring scrimmage against FU charging $20 bucks per is that is a big deal

UVA played Nancy, Washington St, Coastal and William & Mary non con. (2 P4, G5 and FCS)

We play LSU, SCAR, Troy and Furman. (same difference 2 P4, G5 and FCS)
