How good is Stanford

4

Sep 29, 2024, 7:51 AM

After watching, as far as Acc goes I would put them somewhere in the middle. Physicality: very high. RBs run angry and DL has been stingy against the run all year
QB: talented but a bit of last years CK2 syndrome with boneheaded mistakes
Secondary: awful. Maybe the worst in the league
Coaching: overall schemes were very effective but 3rd and especially 4th down playcalling was terrible
The WR is an NFL player

I was impressed with their OL and #20.

That dude runs hard and rarely went down with first contact.

They are better than Nancy State and at least a few more ACC teams. Not bad for a team predicted last. Their coach is doing a good job.

I believe Stanford is a solid team. More experience at QB and they'll be top

Third of the ACC.

There run defense and the D line is legit. I heard last night up until the Clemson game they were only giving up an average of 50 yards per game on the ground.

Take Cades scrambles out and we probably didn’t have 50. It took some adjustments in the second half for our OL to start winning the LOS. I though their D-Line was up there with UGA and their LB were popping our RB’s

The RBs had a total of 81 rushing yards.

Correct. Mafah 58, Haynes 18, Adams 5. CK 48, Vizzina 11. Team total 150 as receivers had rushing yards.

Stats can be a beotch for those with an agenda.

Their big guys were great on both sides, but eventually ran out of gas as they don't have the depth to be top 10 competitive at present. We were fortunate to get a lot of turnovers or it would have been a very close game. I think they beat NC State by 2 TDs. Better than UNC/Duke/Wake also.

They suck. Just like NC State and App State but keep believing they are half decent if it makes you feel better.

Both of their lines are good but on the defensive side, they lack depth.

They have a good WR. Their QB makes spectacularly bad decisions with the ball (good for us). Their defensive backfield is a dumpster fire

Despite this, they are probably going to finish in the top half of the ACC, which shows you how bad the ACC is this year.

I agree. You can take any of our stats or the acc stats with a grain of salt. Meaningless.

Coots will be our stiffest competition this season outside of uga. Let that sink in. It's disappointing because the national pre season pundits actually built up teams in the acc.

I don't disagree. With that said, I still think Miami (I'm assuming that's who we'll play) will be the toughest "regular season" game, if you care to classify the ACCCG that way.

I agree about Miami being a good challenge. They actually have talent that rivals our talent. Our defense better tighten up because their offense is rolling and Can Ward is legit.

Agree for the most part. I would expect them (baring injury) to continue to get better.

I think the broadcast mention something about the youth of the OL and that group does show promise. The QB as physical and talented is assumed by many in the Stanford fandom to eventually lose his starting job to a now injured “blue chip” freshman who balled out in spring but got injured in mop up duty against Cal Poly (any Gen X’er tell me how that school fits into Tom Cruise’s All the Right Moves?).

I liked the coaches aggressiveness with going for it - but not so much some of the calls. On 4th calling the reverse or whatever was dumb. I’m sure they thought we’d be over pursuing or committing but not this time. At halftime, The Cardinal could have (should have) been leading but you could tell we were the deeper/more talented team and it showed in the second half. My favorite part on defense was watching Woodaz fly around on D and Wesco/Moore on O.

Re: How good is Stanford

Their O Line and D Line are great. QB is a slippery sucker that can run, just makes bad decisions with the ball. He gets more experience and cleans that up, he'll be dangerous. RB is good, runs hard down hill and doesn't go down easily.

WR - Guy is a stud, he'll play on Sunday without a doubt.

#4 on defense - kid needs to learn to turn around and look for the ball or else he's going to get flagged for PI constantly. If I were Cade, I'd have thrown at him every time I needed a first down last night.

Overall, probably middle of the ACC right now; 7th - 11th. I like the Coach, he's a gambler who tried to win last night. Didn't get intimidated by the environment. I think he'll do well there.

They have a solid run defense. Our OL did not play well imo. Could not run it consistently and Cade was hit a lot.

The allowing them to continuously get to the corner was concerning as well. Bad angles. Frustrating.

DJ had a pretty good game, but Oregon State's 277 rushing yards and 6 rushing TDs deserve most of the credit for that one.

They are good. Brad Muster is a great RB and Andrew Luck is a special QB. Very physical. They need to drop the red helmets and go back to their traditional white one. They look like Nancy State too much.

Re: How good is Stanford

Stanford's football team shows a mix of strengths and weaknesses, placing them in the middle tier of the league overall. Their physicality is impressive, with running backs who play aggressively and a defensive line that has proven tough against the run. The quarterback has talent but often makes critical mistakes reminiscent of last year’s CK2 struggles, leading to inconsistencies. However, the secondary is a significant concern, potentially the weakest in the league, which undermines their defensive efforts. While the overall coaching schemes are effective, the execution in critical situations, particularly on third and fourth downs, leaves much to be desired. On a positive note, their wide receiver possesses the skills indicative of an NFL talent, highlighting some potential for future success.
