Honestly, I am surprised he didn't fight harder to get that

1st down. The yellow line was right in front of him. :)

It looked to me like he thought he had that left edge and underestimated Edmunds ability to close.

I agree with this...wasn't any hesitation on his part. Looks to me like he thought he had it easily but misjudged Edmond's speed.

Way to use that sideline as a 12th defender.

Good inside/out move, Marcus.

There's something in these hills.

Jackson threw the ball a little high and inside.

Oct 3, 2016, 11:55 AM

Quick jumped up to catch the ball in front of his chest instead of staying on the ground for a quick turn and dash. He turned inside due to the pass being inside and stepped toward the sideline with the same motion. Very quick.

He didn't really look for defenders until after the turn was complete. Did I say his route was nin yards short of the line of gain? Who calls a play nine yard short of gain in a 4th and 12 situation? That had to be the dumbest playcall of the week against a secondary as good as ours.

Eh, he wasn't the primary

You almost always have a guy running a short route, even on 4th and 12, in the hopes he gets lost in the open field and the QB has to check down to him.

Had he run that route 10 yards deeper against our zone then he wouldn't have been open

Petrino said after the game that was where the ball was suppose to go.

a lot off success, mainly the TE.

Edmonds was much fresher and is much quicker than a tired LB, though.

It was a good playcall. We were cleared out defending the end zone and the underneath throw to one of your best receivers was wide open, no one within 10 yards. With a dive or an inside cut he probably gets the first or scores. Edmonds made a good play and Quick made a mental mistake. Petrino is a great playcaller, we just seem to have his number.
