Historically Cade has made poor decisions on short yardage read option calls

1. The fans and coaches know this so why continue to call that? That's poor coaching. It's called "know your personnel". Sometimes you have to protect the player from themselves.
2. Is CV bad at it too? I highly doubt he's worse (if he is that's a serious coaching problem). We know he's a good runner too. Why not have him be the short yardage QB if we have another option that gets better grades on that test? Coaches do it all the time even when they supposedly have a "star" QB.
I guess it all goes back to Dabo's "coaching failure" quote.

Some of these plays aren’t even designed read options…Cade just goes rogue and pulls the ball anyway.

That's a Dabo problem...Cade is no college running QB...defensive ends slap him down...he never matured into a QB you could count on like DW or TL...don't put in a read option, he can read but he is no runner...Dabo has got to know that by now! Extended loyalty sucks in football on occasion...this is one of those...GT has a running QB..compare!

Sometimes it seems like Cade tries to hard mentally rather than just play ball naturally. Maybe a faster tempo where he doesn't have to process (translation "think too much) would help. He's not strong or quick enough as he may believe to get the short yards on 3rd and especially on 4th down. I think he does believe in himself, to a fault...as a "Super-athlete." I know he has been given the option to change plays and we don't know when he has and the plays were successful. However, we have seen, and been told, many examples when he goes "Off Page/rouge" maybe wanting to be the "Hero" (intentionally or not) and not a "best for the team guy. Just my crazy opinion for the day.

...forgot to add...if I'm a D-coordinator...4th down...Cade scrambles right 90-95% of the time.

He has poor situational awareness

it comes slowly to him.
I can relate, in my limited experience playing team sports I'm the guy that will have a 3.9 gpa but will make a 2pt layup when down 3 as time is expiring. (don't ask me how I know that)
Football smart and classroom smart is 2 different things.

There was another one on 4th down in the Syracuse game where it was and option play to Randle and Cade kept it because the D end cut the pitch off, but had time to get back to Cade and trip his feet and he went down short of the 1st down, however he still had time to pitch the ball to Randle while going to the ground, but he hangs on to it! Its 4th down they gonna get the ball anyway so attempt to pitch it to Randle! The cameras swung over to Dabo and you could read his lips mouthing pitch the ball!!

Have we ever had a quarterback run the read option correctly?

It's always seemed to me like we run fake read options where the play is pre-determined even though it looks like a read.
