How the RUSSIA COLLUSION investigation should have gone....

If the FBI was competent and not corrupt.
1. The FBI is presented the Steele dossier 2. Where did this information come from? Igor Dechanko? Wasn't he identified as Russian intelligence about 10 years ago?? Eyebrows should have already been raised. 4. Where did dechanko get his info from? Can any of this be verified? No. Danchenko said most of his info came from anonymous sources and "rumor and speculation" 3. Who paid for this information? Hillary Clinton. Alright cased closed.
The FBI can't truly be that incompetent, which means they are very corrupt.

How many people were indicted because of Russian collusion?
The most damning evidence to wh found was Paul manafort shared polling data with a Ukrainian that he had a business relationship with for 20 years. Lmao.

The fact that he had had a relationship with Constantine Kilimnik for 20 years did not make Kilimnik any less of an FSB agent. Manafort has just been (knowingly) dealing with very, very dirty people for a long time...and only a willfully blind partisan would try to defend him. It's like saying John Gotti was a nice guy and didn't deserve all that rough treatment he got from the Feds.
Some guys are just bad. Manafort was assuredly one of them.
Anybody - and I mean anybody - who knew Manafort knew he'd been playing on the dark end of the street for decades. I know you won't read it but The Atlantic did a lengthy recap on Manafort...the dude is basically a walking Leonardo De Caprio movie, a cautionary tale about over-reaching hubris, immorality, and the almost inevitable fall.
There's acres of documentation on this guy over the years. Insiders have had a certain horrified fascination with Paul Manafort for a long time now...long before he hooked up with Trump.
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/03/paul-manafort-american-hustler/550925/Paul Manafort, American Hustler Decades before he ran the Trump campaign, Paul Manafort’s pursuit of foreign cash and shady deals laid the groundwork for the corruption of Washington.

Yeah, no ####. Manafort is a part of the swamp which is why it was eyebrow raising that trump even hired him. Trump was awful at hiring people during his tenure.
This doesn't take away from the fact that literally the only thing they had was manafort sharing polling data with a Ukrainian that he had known and worked with for 20 years.

That "guy he had known for 20 years" was an FSB agent and had been all that time. And Manafort knew it, and we know he knew it because he was using him as a backchannel back to Moscow. The fact that Manafort had been working with a guy he knew was Russian intelligence and had a direct line back to not just the oligarchs but state security for that long tells you just how dirty Manafort was. That doesn't make it better, it makes it worse. Manafort was working directly for the Russian-allied regime that Ukraine threw out in 2014, and the only reason he was free to join Trump in 2016 was because he needed a job. His oligarch patron was looking for him...and not for good reasons. Manafort owed him a lot of money.
And the reason that polling data was significant is twofold. One, it told the Russians exactly where they needed to focus their efforts...and two, that was indeed the direct collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russia, which right-wing partisans still insist didn't happen even though there's proof positive now it did.
Stone colluded too, by the way, delivering the results of the DNC to Julian Assange at Wikileaks for distribution. He got 40 months for that.
Those are the two we know about. The only reason neither of them rolled on Trump was because Trump pardoned both of them.

This Atlantic Mag story is (largely) an informative chronology of Manafort's rise and fall. Thank you for sharing it with everyone; it is worth reading, but also needs to be skepticism.
(?) Why does the Atlantic have to cheapen their detailed story by attempting to create a close parallel between Manafort The Man -and- Trump The Man?
Burying these speciously worded opinion paragraphs within an otherwise fine journalism of the piece frustrates the heck out of me.
Where's the basis that equates the scheming Manafort (a political operative and manipulator of the first order) with the politically naive Trump? DJT knew how to grease politicians hands (as all builders do), witness his previous contributions to Democrat politicians. Whoop-te-do. But to extrapolate Trump's 'political manipulations' to those of Manafort serves to discredit the article.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The president bears some likeness to the oligarchs Manafort long served: a businessman with a portfolio of shady deals, who benefited from a cozy relationship to government; a man whose urge to dominate, and to enrich himself, overwhelms any higher ideal. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Analogizing Trump to Manafort is like calling a lizard the blood brother of Godzilla. It's pathetic. To bury such a cheap paragraph (along with a few other stupid digressions) allows one to analogize Atlantic Magazine with People Magazine. Attentive readers will see this stunt and shy away from Atlantic.
Everyone loses: Atlantic with their readers / The public by missing out on their truly straight up stuff.
Stick to the truth, Atlantic Mag. It's more powerful in the long run.

My take:
1. Read the Dossier 2. Realize, using common sense, this is the craziest thing you've ever read 3. Toss it in the can 4. Move on with your life

This is one of the dumbest takes I have heard. Opposition research is common and not corrupt. Everyone does it. Christopher Steele didn't come into the picture until Hillary did

Who do you think does "oppo research?"
"Oppo research" is just another word for mudslinging. The top firms that do this are just really high-brow private detective agencies, who go looking for dirt they can use against political opponents, and they love ex-CIA/ex-MI6 guys exactly because they're willing to get dirty.
And yes, it's a dirty, filthy, ugly business, done by people who are not very nice and are taking all those dirty tricks they learned in service of their country...and selling them to the highest bidders.
All the "Steele Dossier" was, was poilitical mud, sh!t thrown into the fan with the express intent of splattering Trump. It was a political hit job done for political purposes...and it didn't work, Hillary still lost the election.
It had almost nothing whatsoever to do with the Mueller report...they looked - briefly - at the dossier, and it didn't pass the sniff test, and they moved on. What Mueller's guys did find got multiple people indicted and convicted.
Claiming the "dirty dossier" had much to do with the Mueller report - and subsequent revelations that came out after the Mueller report - simply is not correct.

Re: H.Clinton - Steele Dossier: More than just Oppo Research

Sorry man, but the Steele Dossier was much worse than simply Oppo Research that failed to get Hillary elected.
The fact that the FBI was touting the Steele Dossier as credible was a Nixonesque involvement of a Federal bureaucracy to perpetrate a crime against a private citizen.
Obama (the Democrat) was in charge of all the Federal bureaucracies, and the deployment of the FBI to spy on the Trump campaign re the discredited "Russia Collusion" nonsense and to promote the Steele Dossier as credible made Nixon's 1972 'burglary' stunts with a few political operatives seem like child's play.
