I honestly did not fault Zion Williamson for not coming

to Clemson. The Kid wanted to play just one year to improve his NBA stock and I didn't see him being content getting minutes behind Elijah Thomas.

Just like Dexter Lawrence choosing Duke over us.

In all seriousness though, Mark Donnal had great success as Eli’s backup last year. Zion could’ve easily slid into that role.

IF=f you were a great bb recruit would you pick Clemson over Duke. That would be like Trevor Lawrence signing with Duke or Wake

He is the most popular player in college basketball. I wouldn't say that is a cog in the machine. He is the star at the best basketball school in college. They are number 1 and have a chance to win it all.

I think we would have brought Zion along slowly behind Skara.

Not and still maintained credibility you wouldn't have. Everyone that recruited Zion told him he would be the face of the program. I know for fact Brownell sold him the face of the program and being an in-state hero. Zion is what he is, he could have been a top 2 pick out of high school so saying he chose Duke because of him wanting to play in the NBA is a farce. He chose Duke because they got his mother a 6 figure job at a non-revenue charity through the hospital systems at Duke and also got them a house. Momma don't pick everything up and move 3 hours away because her son went to college for 6 months, no momma only does that when momma gets something in return. You know what they'll get away with it because the NCAA is a joke, so good on Duke. Play the system because the system is broke and as long as money rolls in the system don't care. The only reason the NCAA even blinked an eye at Ole Miss was because of how openly and blatantly careless Ole Miss became, Duke doesn't make those mistakes. Coach K never even entertained the idea of taking one and dones until he became irrelevant and saw Calipari doing it, getting away with it and winning with it. Coach K did a 180 overnight and now Kentucky can't even get them. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

I don't see the talent with Zion. I don't see him getting drafted.

We need a bball coach with a killer instinct. Brownell is the Bowden of Clemson Basketball. All the great coaches had killer instinct that they imparted to their teams.

The coach happens first, like with Dabo and Saban.

Sometimes. Clemson Basketball isn't an easy sell. We're not going to recruit with Duke. Moreover, it might be tough to keep that coach around. I agree though that we might catch lightening in the bottle like we did with Dabo. It's not that simple though. Anyway, we were in the Sweet 16 last year and played with top seed Kansas. I have no complaints about the team we have.

We could’ve tried him on the o line. 2 sport star. Pretty rare opportunity but he just threw it away.

Zion seems like he would be an amazing OT or TE. That guy was going to be making millions no matter what he did.
