Not as much as the brand and being a top team. A 5 star player is not going to podunk U, no matter the money.

Genuine question here…
I keep seeing the $$ argument being made here, stating that’s why the SEC baseball teams are successful, mainly in recruiting. Outside of LSU, can anyone point me to an article or something stating this? I’m a Tennessee fan, and I know certain things concerning our baseball team’s NIL deals, and it’s nothing that every Power 5 program couldn’t have also.
I’m not defending any of these rivals, or claiming that you are wrong about NIL in the SEC, I’m just seeking out more info. If you can share, I’d love to read it. Thank you.

Thanks. Can't say I'm surprised by what this article says.

So LSU spent a ton of cash. Follow-up question, if it’s all donor funded NIL, where are the Clemson donors? It sounds very liberal of you to cry about rich people wanting to spend their money (collectives) how they see fit.

When I was at Clemson in the early 70's the total student body was about what Vanderbilt is now around 13k. Clemson is now at 28,747 and UT is at 36,304. Still a significant difference in number of alumni over the years. Most all of the other SEC schools have larger student bodies than Clemson. This certainly affects NIL with out a Papa Johns or Nike connection.

Correct. My argument for decades. Since 1960 in football , based on average annual enrollments through 2022, only 2 schools smaller than Clemson have won 2 or more Natty’s- -Notre Dame & Miami both of which are private schools with rich & widespread fan bases. Oklahoma is essentially same size as Clemson, but every other Nat’l Championship program is from 1/3 to over double the student body size. Ohio State is largest by far with over 50K, ‘Bama with over 40k.
How we recruit effectively and nonetheless win in this environment is astonishing. But that’s “little ole Clemson”!
*if you’re fact checking these numbers may be a little off but the point is the same. I did this research a couple months ago and my stat sheet is currently buried under a kitchen renovation 🤬

Calling people names who point out the truth. Sounds about right for your fanbase. What you failed to acknowledge is the most important part of my previous post: go away we don't want you here.
