Who else was impressed with Tony Steward Saturday?

Sep 17, 2012, 4:31 PM

Why is he not playing more?

He did alright... over-pursued like a #### on that one play***

It takes a year to get your mind right and trust your knees

Sep 17, 2012, 4:33 PM

after those injuries he suffered. Yes, he is going to be a great player by bowltime if not sooner.

He'll beat out Corico Wright soon enough

Sep 17, 2012, 4:34 PM

I desperately want Anthony, Steward, and Townsend on the field at the same time. That's our best line up.

Tig's gotta be on the field too. I'd like to see Teek in there in certain packages/situations for a different look and a threat to blow stuff up in the backfield.

Don't short-change Tig.

Arguably our most consistent defensive player right now.

He needs to start.***

There's something in these hills.

He hasn't played more at the start because...

Sep 17, 2012, 4:38 PM

1. He's coming back off of two blown ACL's
2. He still looks uncomfortable making hard cuts (probably more mental than physical)
3. He missed all of Spring football
4. It wasn't decided he was actually going to play this year until the end of Fall camp.

That being said, I think we will start working him in more consistently. He obviously has the talent.

Yes, I was happy for him and how he played.

We finally stuffed the run on a few plays with him in the game. Big plus with him in the game.

The only one play was where he was probably watching out for his knee was when he couldn't stop on a dime and transition on I believe a pass out to the flats.

Start him at MLB to plug the middle

MLB is the QB of the defense in our system, gotta have somebody making calls and reads that I doubt he's ready to make.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He seemed to have a nose for the ball - if he wasn't making

Sep 17, 2012, 4:41 PM

the play he was close. I take that as a good sign, and would think it's something you'd look for in a young player.

I was extremely impressed with his play Saturday

Sep 17, 2012, 4:53 PM

He's got such a nose for the football. Probably the best pure nose for the football we have at LB. Once he gets past that mental worry he has about making cuts with his knees he's going to be unstoppable. If not before, he'll be starting coming out of the bye week.

Sep 17, 2012, 4:55 PM

Obviously, Wright must be coach's favorite, b/c from what I saw, Steward is bigger, faster, and a better tackler.
