Heading to the Wuffie Game? Here's a parking, party spot

If you haven't been to Carney-Finley Stadium before, it isn't hard to get to.

Finding parking is something else altogether. All the spots around the stadium are controlled by the Howling Wolf Club, or whatever they call themselves. There are a few houses that sell parking, much like homes in downtown Clemson, but they can fill up quickly and are the devil to get out of afterward.

Besides, do you really want to end up parking next to something like this?

So, here's a suggestion: hang out with the Triangle Clemson folks. The local Club is setting up shop in one of the closest free parking areas, about a half-mile from the stadium (but a flat walk).

In addition, they're hold in barbecue with soft drinks and water for $12 (or $15 at the door). That's cheaper than any pay lot you'll find in the area.

Here's a map of the lot. I've included an "X-marks-the-spot" graphic as well. Or you could just drive down Blue Ridge Road and look for this...

The Triangle folks may car pool elsewhere and arrive in a group, but they generally try to meet just outside the parking garage in the large lot, east of the water tower. You'll need to enter the lot from Blue Ridge Road, south of the water tower.

FWIW, long-range outlook is foe seasonal temps (high in the low 80s, cooling into the upper 60s after sunset. It'll be nice weather for the walk to the stadium ... and great weather for lingering in celebration afterward.

For more info on the Triangle tailgating soiree, check https://cualumni.clemson.edu/SSLPage.aspx?&pid=466.

Wherever you decide to park, be loud and proud! See you there!

Thanks for this post. I live in eastern NC but this is my first trip to "State". I'll check in with those guys so my father and brother-in-law can get a REAL Clemson experience!

While Rev says it isn't hard to get to, he means under normal circumstances, being a Thursday night game is going to make this a nightmare.

True, but at least the fair isn't running as well...

One year, we had an afternoon game at State the same time the fair was going on. THAT was a nightmare. Knowing we were going to be cutting kickoff close as we waited in miles of traffic, a half-dozen or so of us started a rolling tailgate, with folks running from car to car with chicken, brownies, well-disguised spirits.

It was the game when Woody ran wild on the Wuffies. I'd love to see that again on Thursday!

State Fair, home Football game, and a home Carolina Hurricanes game in the same day. Was before I was in Raleigh, but they still talk about how horrible it was. Also why now the Hurricanes go on a 2 week road trip during the fair (usually when they go west) and no home NCSU football games are typically scheduled.

Thanks for reminding me about the State Fair, thing bogs traffic down here so bad, coming up.
