For those of you lashing out tonight, we get it

We get it that you now feel stupid for insisting all season long that Cade was a bust and clearly not ready or Dabo would be playing him.
We get it that you feel stupid tonight for saying you trust Dabo and if he says DJ is the best chance to win, then so be it.
It’s understandable that you feel ignorant for rambling on about how people aren’t professional coaches so they can’t possibly know more than our coaches
Most of all it’s perfectly logical that you’re hurt. Dabo let you down and BS’d you all season about our QB, and had you defending something that was ultimately proven to be indefensible.
So go ahead, pitch a fit, call names and act like people are bad fans for acknowledging that what we’ve known all season just got proven on prime time TV. Call people coots, classless, etc. All of those things are easier than admitting you were wrong, as Dabo would seem to agree.
You keep on with your 100% belief that Dabo IS Clemson Football and is completely infallible. The rest of us more balanced folks will be over here caring more about the program than a single man, while still rooting for his continued success and hoping he learns from his QB mistake this time.

He seemed unhappy from the moment Cade entered the game. I don't believe for a minute that Cade was scheduled to enter the game on the 3rd series. He had no choice after the $hit show on our 1st two possessions.

Dabo did say in the post game interview on the field that he was going to make a switch if DJ failed after two drives, which he most certainly did.

Kyle Parker playing scared and avoiding hits at all cost for an entire season (ultimately diagnosed post-season with cracked ribs) while Tajh was twiddling his thumbs on the bench as Dabo insisted Parker was NFL talent?
Or maybe when we could have been 3-0 or at worst 2-1 to start 2014 instead of 1-2 because Dabo stuck with tenure over talent once again?

Cole Stoudt was another NFL-bound talent that should not be benched under any circumstances. You have to admit, Dabo is at least consistent in his love affair with mediocre upper classmen.

You're right, and I personally believe that it's bc he has been in their exact same situation when he was a player, and he had coaches pull him along bc he was a hard worker. It's nothing to be ashamed of, all of us have wanted to be really good at something in our lifetime, but for whatever the reasons we were just never able to master it. When that has happened, we usually move on from it, and we learn that we were better off bc we dropped it, and we had more time doing the things that we were really good at doing. Honestly, I believe we've all been in that lane at some time in our lives....

Well, he’s got a plan for the next decade, so he’s going to be Clemson’s coach for a long, long time. He’s our coach, and all of whiners whining a whiner symphony won’t change it.
You understand, right? A person is free to whine whine whine, but you will never, ever move the needle even a micron for all your efforts.
I love that part! Go Tigers!!

Ohhhh, you're talking about the one snap he got at the very end of the 3d qtr where we were backed up to our 8 yd line when he had pressure on him as soon as he got the ball in his hands, he needed to get rid of it or be tackled in the endzone. Hey, really good senior QBs has done that same thing trying to just get rid of the ball before being tackled inside the endzone. It's at the 2:10 mark

I just noticed for the first time that the defender might have hit Cade's arm right as he released, resulting in the underthrow. I was at the game and directly behind Cade and saw what he saw - Ngata flashing open if the throw was high pointed (which he did in the ACCCG with great success). Still he should have eaten it or took the quick read to AW, but he will learn and has learned. I wish he had gotten a chance in the USC game but I am thankful for Saturday night! Go Tigers!

Have you ever heard of these idiots that stays home every Saturday during FB season, and if the family ever planned anything on Saturday during FB season, they could bank on him not being a part of whatever they had planned, yeah I've heard of those idiots, well H&11 I'm one of those idiots, and I'm one that has watched college football when available in my early years, but I have watched college FB for 60 years every Saturday that it's been on TV, and from my mid 20's up until about 60, I was in Clemson Memorial Stadium/Death Valley every chance I got when I could afford it.
Long story short, I've seen including when I was an NFL fan, probably a couple hundred QBs, and I've seen about every style there is, and I feel like I'm a pretty good judge of what a good QB looks like, and I never seen that in DJ, and until this past Saturday, the most that I seen of Cade was in his HS film, and I thought he looked to be a good QB in HS, and from what we saw of Cade this past Saturday, I'm going to say that he has really good potential to be a really good college QB, I could be wrong, but I really don't think so, but there is the risk that a college QB coach screw him up if he allows them to do so....

Cade isn't a freshman now. He's spent an entire season preparing for this. He had flashes of greatness and I admit, I wanted to see him get the start two games into the season.
He was obviously ready to night. It was magic how well our receivers caught the ball and how well our line blocked. Our coordinators seemed to be able to perform according to their pay scale and even the defense looked better when Cade was behind center. Imagine that.
I do not know all the factors Dabo had to consider when he kept starting DJ. All we saw was what we wanted and half of Tnet wanted to punish DJ. I was one of them early this season. I'm consoled by knowing we have a legitimate Heisman contender behind center now.
I probably did more to make your point than to challenge it. AT's OK.

I supported DJ all season. Last week was different, for several reasons. Mainly the fact that DJ was playing poorly and Klubnik wasn't given a shot to save the Tigers playoff hopes. Not to mention that as poorly as DJ played, the Tigers only lost by 1 to the yard birds. The decision to stick with DJ was made at the price of a possible playoff spot. That is ridiculous and falls at Dabo's feet.

With all due respect, I feel the way you do about Cade / DJ. Dabo Mishandled this and it most likely cost this team dearly. But to act like Dabo has not taken this program to new heights that many of us only dreamed about is ludicrous.
I am frustrated over this decision, but Dabo has earned the right to make a few mistakes.

I am thankful for Dabo and the thi gs that he has done for this program. But I'm not going to pat him on the back for making a bone headed decision that quite possibly costed this program another playoff berth. If he can be hailed and praised for his greatness, then he can be called out for making a huge blunder as well.

No he earned the right to make mistakes and then sold that right for $11M/year. When you’re making that much, people once again have the right to complain about your mistakes, especially if they are this mind blowing.

Spanks for the memories Dabo! You’re no longer living in reality.
I say we pay dabo $2,000,000 next year heavily incentivized . Also, no more contract extension until we ACTUALLY use the portal.
I’m tired of seeing the egomaniac horse #### our program back into the 90’s.

Never in my life could I imagine someone being so angry after winning Another Clemson Championship.

Almost as if Mark Twain had penned it himself. Well done. Classy and astute.

Why are so many okay with Dabo

talking negatively about fans? This is what got me to sign up here after only browsing and reading this board. And I said this in another thread….
The “no friggin clue” insult is so bad that, as far as I can recall, Dabo is now just the second coach to speak poorly of Clemson fans. The only other one was Ken Hatfield, who accused fans of being disloyal.
I never in all my years following Clemson heard Tommy Bowden, Tommy West, Danny Ford, or Charley Pell say a single negative or condescending word about Clemson fans. Dabo and Hatfield have their own club in this regard.

After going through 2 bags of popcorn reading the above, the only possible behind the scenes story I can come up with is that Dabo promised DJ that he would be the starting QB if he signed with Clemson and it appears it was a 2 year agreement. Daddy DJ was heavily involved and proofread the agreement and held Dabo to it. That time has now expired and Daddy DJ is now exploring options for his youngest son and DJ as a package deal. The youngest son wants a degree in music production so it will be a school on the West Coast. That is my unofficial opinion.

Yeah, I entertained that theory too. Sure, it sounds all "cloak and dagger" with Hollywood overtones but it doesn't really seem like something Dabo or Clemson would would actually do. I HIGHLY doubt anything nefarious occurred with Big Dave. I suspect Dabo overpromised to a heartbroken mother in a moment of weakness back in 2020 and we got what we got in 2022. Consider the following; When it became apparent DJ's folks were divorcing, DJ reportedly totally melted down. DJ's a big softy (obviously) and it wrecked him mentally. It's been written here (and I've heard a similar story) that DJ desperately wanted to quit football and head back to the West Coast to "save the family". An understandable and noble thought, especially for an 18 year old oldest son. At that point, DJ's Mom and Dabo (and who knows who else) all convinced him to stay in school and come back and play this year and graduate. I suspect there were tears and hugs and it was during this emotional moment that Dabo made "the promise" to DJ's Mom. The promise that he would take care of DJ this season, treat him like a son and make sure he succeeded at Clemson. A "noblesse oblige" on Dabo's part for sure, but at what cost? Some say it cost us a playoff spot, but not sure that I agree. I've been incredibly frustrated by DJ's uneven play and obvious decline from his Freshman year to what we saw in Charlotte this past weekend. It's been maddening. But Dabo being Dabo stuck to his promise and drug DJ through the season. If you think it about it, this theory explains a LOT what transpired this year, incuding Dabo's overly emotional recent rant about doing what he believes to be "right" etc., etc. I personally found it a little over the top given what DJ had done on the field. And as my wife pointed out, Dabo was basically raised by HIS Mom. And it's pretty easy to believe that to Dabo, a promise to a mother is like a promise to God. So anyway, I for one am frustrated with it, but my theory helps explain why it unfolded the way it did. I REALLY wish DJ would have quit football and finsihed school, but done it halfway through the season. But remember, DJ had a decent run for part of this season so he maybe he wanted to ride it out and Dabo was only too happy to oblige him. But NO record deal, Big Dave blackmail, West Coast, Crips or Bloods. Just Dabo doing what he thought was right, sprinkled in with some of his trademark stubbornness, some ego and finished off with his own childhood experiences.

But I'm gonna go with the facts - Cade wasn't ready to be the starter walking in door. And DJ was the returning starter, and he actually played well early.
Like most true freshmen, he needed time to mature and develop, and that's exactly what Dabo alluded to when saying he wasn't ready.
According to Dabo, Cade was given the opportunity to take the position when he went in against ND. He panicked right away and made a terrible decision on the INT. For the season he wa 11 of 22 for 98 yds. None of that screams he was ready to take over.

He was 11 of 22 for 98 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.
Some guys, most of them actually, take time to mature and develop during their freshman year.
I don't understand how fans of football with any sort of knowledge and comprehension would not be able to acknowledge game 13 is not like game 1 for a freshman.

Pumpers will be pumpers. My pulse was in the low 70s for a while because I vocally said "Fire Tommy Bowden" three years before it finally happened. Dabo is a great coach, but he makes mistakes. I honestly hope he has the integrity to explain this DJ BS.

Well I think it's safe to say Dabo has done a lot more for Clemson football than you ever have or ever will. He's also been right a lot more than he's been wrong.
We all disagree with Dabo's decisions from time to time. But the hate for Dabo is strong with this one.
When our "bad" seasons are 10-3 and 11-2, there's no reason for you to be such an a**
