I, for one, am glad Dabo didn’t waste any time on punters this off-season. To me not having a great punter on the team sends a strong message that punting is an afterthought, as it should be.

Totally disagree. If you were old enough to remember back in Danny's days when he had his stop watch out to time kicks, you would have an idea of how important the kicking game is. Winning the kicking game is something every coach will tell you is important and having the weapons to win it is vital.

Winning the kicking game is something every coach will tell you is important
As mentioned by OP above, not every coach holds to this convention - Dabo, for example, goes out of his way to downplay its importance since he never uses it to achieve anything of significance.

I agree.
Furthermore, having a FG / PAT team is another sign of a loser program.
We should only score TDs and only do 2 pt conversions.
I’m still furious about Hueser’s late FG vs SMU. Yes, we win, but the style points were missing. We should have run Hammerhead Adams up the middle for a long TD run. THAT would have been the style points that we needed to get to last year’s CFP.

I rarely agree with you, but this one is spot on. In fact, I think if our defense does it's job and no team scores a point against us all year, we will likely win every game. Who would care about a punter anyways?
